[As is common with new arrivals, there are a few very confused moments of waking up and scrambling around before the Fleet's newest arrival manages to find and switch off the nearest camera.

About half an hour later and significantly less panicked-looking, he switches it back on. Some quality time spent with his augment answered the pressing questions, like where am I and why aren't there any weapons here, and that he's not going to get an answer to are my friends okay without a little further input from him. So. If they're here, he reasons, they'll recognize him.]

Shouldn't there be more people here? Or do I get to be the only lucky winner this week?

Yeah? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Eh? There's nothing wrong with it, really -- just another military village where I come from.

In any case, people here can come from different planets, universes, timelines, so on and so forth. It'd be ridiculous if everyone actually spoke the same language.

[He grins a little sheepishly.] Can't hide the military part, can I?

I'm starting to get the timeline thing. There's some people here who--well, they had a lot more gray hair last time I saw them.

Oh? Some people you know then? That's pretty lucky.

[ She's gone a decent amount of time without seeing anyone she knew until Sasuke showed up -- and even then, there are others who've been alone for a long time too ]

[He mutters something that sounds like "lucky they're the right people". It could have been Hux or Phasma or Kylo Ren.]

A lot of people don't know anyone here? When they get here, I mean. Obviously you meet people.

Sure. No one from my world showed up until a little over a month ago, and I've been here about a year and a half.

[ Let's not get into the whole Paradisa thing just yet, poor guy is so new. ]

Sometimes people are more lucky, though. Looks like you've at least got a little luck on your side.

A year and a half? How long are the "cycles" then? Do we even know?

[Yeah, his mind is blown enough for one day. He's trying to stay cool but not entirely succeeding.]

No, we don't know. I assume they last until someone "wins", but that obviously hasn't happened yet.

[ And honestly, she's not sure that it will. Or if it does, what will happen to everyone else ... ? ]

Apparently, you win by being the most popular "character" on the "show". Honestly, I'm pretty sure most of it is bullshit and they're just going to keep us here until whenever they get bored, but -- that's the official word.

Sure. Like I said, I've been around awhile -- and I'm a captain of one of the ships in the fleet, so if you have any questions, I'll do my best to help.

We've been to a lot of different moons and planets and not one of them has ever heard of this show we're supposedly on, despite it being broadcast all around the universe or whatever, so I'm going to guess that's probably the right option.

I'm the captain of the SS Three Twins. Uh -- now that I think about it, I guess we don't have a Security person anymore ...

The universe, right. [He rolls his eyes.] One sector of one galaxy, I'd believe. This galaxy, even. But if it's in my galaxy, I never heard of it.

[Finn grins.] Maybe they'll put me there, then. Everywhere else I asked, they already have someone.

Eh? You think it'd be that hard to broadcast so far?

[ Space?? What is that. ]

I think it's just randomly decided even if a ship already has one or two of something -- but, if you wanted to be on my ship, or if you wanted to be on the same ship with the people you know, you can always put in a transfer request and you'll get moved to the ship of your choice at the next Shuffle.

Sure. Getting anything outside one galaxy is going to take a lot more power than bouncing it around a few systems.

[Space: it's big. Really big.]

Yeah? [He perks up. So if his friends show up, they can all transfer to the same ship! He's trying not to think too hard about how very much he wishes Rey were here.] Maybe I will. Good to know.

Yep! It's pretty easy to do. Though some ships are a little more cramped than others.

Like, political refugee-type packed, or sleeping in shifts because there's not enough bunks packed?

Uh -- closer to the latter. There's plenty of everything to go around, just not enough beds at the moment. But some people have couches or sleeping bags and stuff.

I've slept on worse. Could do shifts, too - I wouldn't mind that.

Well -- then you won't fare too badly. Some people come here from more pampered lives, I guess.

[ Not that she doesn't live in a house and have a nice bed, but she's gone on enough missions where she can handle doing bunks and close quarters, too. ]

Let me guess, lot of civilians here?

Civilians, yeah. But all kinds of other stuff, too. Like rich people and royalty. [ She shoots a smile right back. ] I guess they were going for variety.

Royalty's not always bad. The General back home used to be a princess. [Or she still is a princess while she's here? Timelines are confusing.]

I don't think I ever met a rich person, though.

I never said it was a bad thing. I've met plenty of royalty that was just fine. I just meant they're used to different things.

Either way, you'll definitely meet a lot of interesting people while you're here.

Different, sure. I don't see any yachts out there. Shouldn't be a problem for me.
