Hey guys! I have a bit of a weird question for you today.

Did anyone by any chance stock up on apples before we left the Starlight? Or... apple puree, maybe? Or, um. Apple-anything-not-in-a-protein-cube? It's important. I promise.

I'd be willing to trade you credits or food from the Starstruck in exchange. We have a lot of dried and frozen meat. Like. A lot.

On an unrelated-but-not-really note...

Does anyone know how to make apple pie?

[ Kitchen? Kitchen! Time to look for things. ]

Most of it came from Arslae. The planet we were on before stopping at the Starlight. There was loads of wildlife there, so Meathead and I both took advantage of it to go hunting. I came into a load of credits at the time too, so I spent most of it before we left on a stacking up with everything in the market I could get my hands on that was frozen or dried or canned. It turned out to be a good idea, since our accounts were frozen on the Starlight and no one could buy food there anyway.

Stocking up when you can is always a good idea, take it from me. [ Survivor thinking. He's hauled around half a deer's worth of jerky before and just eaten it until they ran out. ] Having the cubes until I first got paid at the station did suck.

...also, Meathead? Who's nickname is that?

Oh-- you know. The guy with the beard? He won't tell anyone his real name. He just tells you to call him what you want. So I call him Meathead. You know-- 'cause he's stubborn, and he likes meat a lot. For a human.

Oh, the guy who hit the dog. Yeah, he's... had a rough time. Seems like, anyway.

That's right.

He seems mean, but I think he's actually secretly a softie.

He wasn't mean to me, just... laconic. Kinda gruff. Nothing bad.

Yeah, that's how he normally is.

I know the type. We'll get along fine, I can do all the talking.

Flour, salt, oil, sugar. No spices for the apple but I guess that's not a big deal.

... Spice? [Her eyes widen.] You people put spice in your food?

...you're supposed to, yeah, if you have it. Why?

Supposed to? Are we talking about the same thing? How does anyone ever get anything done if they're high all the time?

Uh. We're definitely not, no. You don't get high off cinnamon.

I don't know what "cinnamon" is, but where I come from, spice is a highly controlled narcotic substance.

Where I'm from, spices are food flavorings. You don't season anything in your world?

[resnipstance]

Well, sure, but-- not with spice.

Okay, so whatever you call the stuff you season food with, that's what I meant. Apple pie usually has something called cinnamon in it.

That does make a lot more sense.

Will it taste bad without it?

Nah it'll be fine. As long as it's decent fruit, I think.

Where are you getting the apples?

I'm collecting some from Master Sunrider. Apparently she bought a box of them just before we left the Starlight! Talk about lucky.
