[Y'all, Misty can't be the only one who hates this place, so let's all gather on the Iskaulit, safe from all that dark and rot down on the polluted moon and have ourselves a good time!

(Or at least, a pollution-free time).

I see. That does make sense.

[ Though he associates jogging to one of the punishments his Master used to give him. ]

And this? Does this help too? Reaching out?

[He gives pause, expression softening.]

Um... [aherm] I guess... No. Not really.

[He looks to the small place of prayer.]

It used to. When I was younger. And then I realized that... the beings listening didn't really care, and the guy in charge wasn't listening at all. [He rubs the back of his neck.] But he's out there. If I could just... get his attention somehow.

Maybe he'll hear it one of these days.

[ He doesn't know who the "guy in charge" was, but it's an easy conclusion to reach. Obi-Wan briefly wonders what that would be like. The Force has never abandoned him. There have been times when he's been cut off from the Force, and it slowly destroyed him. But that was not the same. ]

Perhaps you'll consider asking someone else?

[He gives it some thought.]

Considered, yeah... I don't know. Maybe.

Not sure if it'd transcend into my universe, though. I'm actually, uh -- all things considered, I'm in an okay place here. Usually am, when I show up in new worlds. It's my own I'm most worried about. And the being who made my world, he's MIA.

[ He's not sure how something that powerful could just leave but Obi-Wan has dealt with omnipotent creatures before. ]

That may be so. But the echoes of his power must still linger, must still have consequence. The Force is like that. There are being - creatures with unimaginable power. Much like deities. They can vanish or leave, but their power remains. And with that, you can decide your future.

[He smiles faintly.]

Decide your future. Yeah.

Fighting fate — it's rough, but it's not impossible, huh?

[ He pauses. Obi-Wan follows the Force and whatever the Force chooses for him. Is he following his fate or carving his own? ]

No. I don't think it's impossible.

[He considers his lot in life for a moment. Considers the not-so-impossible.]

I was supposed to be someone else, before. Fate, and all that. A destiny.

[He glances over at Obi-Wan.]

Pretty sure at this point, anything's possible. At least, that's what it feels like.

Anakin might be a better person to talk to you about this than me.

[ Having to shoulder the weight of being the Chosen One. ]

But I hear destiny rarely plays the way you want it to. I had believed it. I still do.

[ But Obi-Wan would choose Anakin over destiny any day. ]

Anakin? Right. I met him; he sent me a bunch of questionable reading material.

Including a novel about knees falling in love.

[That's the better guy to talk to about this, huh?

He shakes his head with a smile.]

I don't believe in it... Destiny. I was born to become something... evil, pre-written and ordained and all those fancy descriptions. God, his workers, fate herself, they all expected me to be something else... but...

Things can be changed. People can change. There's free will.

... It's just if you're lucky enough to make the right choices.

[A pause.]

You're... Obi-Wan, right? I'm Sam.

I'm surprised he managed to pick up reading material to begin with.

[ It was never Anakin's forte. ]

That is how we see the Force. There is destiny in our choices, but it is our choices that ultimately decide.

[He considers what he knows. Probably not a good idea to make that obvious, huh.]

I guess I could understand that. Sounds like destiny has a little different meaning where I'm from. Or at least, it had a different meaning to the people trying to blow up the world, anyway.

People always have colourful interpretations of destiny.

[ Like the Dark Side of the Force. ]

But it is their choice to see it that way and no other.
