[Y'all, Misty can't be the only one who hates this place, so let's all gather on the Iskaulit, safe from all that dark and rot down on the polluted moon and have ourselves a good time!

What an odd thing to say.

[ It's certainly a new brand of logic. Not enough to make him miss the cyclical kind Kyriakos or the library provided but certainly . . . special. ]

Well, it's not really my business what they think of me.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. [Leaning back in his chair, he turns his face up, feeling the warmth of the sunlamps.] The initial reaction is the most intense. It's when everyone's bringing their emotions to bear.

[That goes for Charles as well as the others. Mystique's presence rattled him, much as Hank's rattled Kitty, and Erik's rattled others.]

It can be wishful thinking to say that, but it becomes simpler after your first day or two.

[ He curls his fingers around the back of Erik's neck, quiet. ]

Mmm. No, I don't think it is wishful thinking. We have to wait and see.

[He's quiet for a while, just enjoying the company. Some of the tension that's throttled him since arriving in this place is finally ebbing away. Whatever else happens, he's not the sole person from his world here anymore. The situation may still be dire - he's under no illusions that he wants out - but he has the constants that have started to define his life. Even if it was only a month's worth of time back home, it was a life he'd been glad to have.

Eventually, he asks:]

Do you know where Hank has ended up?

Some ship called the Blameless, I believe. I thought I'd go over and check to see if he has locked himself in his lab.

[ Because that would be a thing. ]

I imagine the serum has worn off. [So, he thinks that's likely too.]

It wouldn't have lasted much longer.

[ Charles would know. ]

[Erik's lived with him long enough now to know that much as well. With a long-suffering sigh that speaks to his own particular opinions about Hank's use of serum, he rolls his head sideways to look at Charles.]

This moon traffics mainly in chemicals. They're cheap and they're everywhere. He won't have much trouble finding resources here.

[ It's not his place to comment on the use of the serum. For Charles, that opportunity has long passed him by, but Hank is still learning. And unlike Erik and himself, Hank faces different problems. Charles rubs Erik's neck quietly as an answer. ]

I'm sure we'll find something to do.

Yes. You can buy extremely overpriced food.

Is that what you've been doing?

Only the one time. I desperately wanted real vegetables.

Were they any good?

[He sighs, theatrically chagrined.] No. They weren't.

[ He lets out a low chuckle, patting Erik's arm. ]
