Is it possible that my only friend from home is protective of me? Yes, I'd say it's possible.

Well, I know that. But if he's the threatening type...

I just know he's been through a lot. We both have, but I had almost a year to decompress before heading here, and he was there living through even more trauma.

I get it. It's just that you seem really close with him and I don't know anything about him. You kind of know everything about my best friend.

Well, he's a teleporter. Sadly, it smells like sulfur, but it's impressive. Also a swordsman. He has blue fuzzy skin, yellow eyes, and a prehensile tail. Good sense of humor. [She doesn't even think to note it can be very dark humor because it barely registers as such to her.] Confident. A flirt. Loyal and loving to his friends and family. He always does too much for too little, and he's lost way too much. He's a good man.

Sounds like a great person to have at your side.

He is. I probably couldn't have asked for a better person from home. [Is he the one she would have chosen to see if given the option? Maybe not. But she wouldn't trade him in for anything. They had always been close and that bond has only strengthened here. At least that's how she feels.] I really never thought I'd see anyone from there again.

Then I guess he has every right to be protective.

[This would be a good time to do that thing she was meaning to do where she tells people who might find it upsetting that she's dead back home. Not to hurt them but so that if it slips out from her or someone else who knows they aren't blindsided. She sees the opportunity and...let's it go again.]

I'm protective of him too. And kind of everyone. It's sort of my thing.

I think I sensed it somehow. Sometimes we just know other people like us, even if we don't realize it.
