[ There is something to be said for the few seconds before truly waking up, when everything is fuzzy and safe and nothing matters as much as it did the night before. But that moment tends to get shot in the foot pretty damn fast, especially when Dean is prone to waking up with a rush of adrenaline. Made infinitely worse by the realization that a) he does not know where he is and b) the automatic grab for the weaponry usually confined to his body results in nothing. Nada. His pistol is nowhere to be found, the blade in his jacket is missing, and no amount of grappling about solves that problem. And while he finds the comm device it only annoys him further because it's not his damn gun.

Which is right around the instant Dean shoves himself off the bed and shouts near as loud as he can manage- ] The hell is this! [ Followed with some more grumbling. ] Be better if I asked which Hell is this.. swear to God, this shit never gets any better.

[ It’s too echoey, too sterile, and the immediate need for answers is almost overpowering. He doesn’t give two shits about looking himself over, pushes aside thoughts of the last image that flashes across his mind, and instead gives one more look around the bed he woke in to try and find his weaponry because fuck this shit. Why he’s unarmed is of particular concern and a vast amount of silent panic, but he doesn’t want to stand here and leave himself open to anything either. Which implies moving, something that takes only another second to decide upon.

Not that he’s going to be going far…

No, after a brief stint of stealthy meandering, Dean manages to find himself striding down towards the medical wing because why the hell not. Where it’s near impossible to resist the urge to start rifling through just about everything he can get his hands on. Because Dean Winchester is a Class Act. And because living through the apocalypse tends to make one appreciate medical supplies, especially when you're inclined to... start shit. ]

[ Well, but see- the non-human thing generally only extends so far. Not to mention, he hasn't had to deal with demons and ghosts and things for awhile now. Not at the top of his priority list. Just like.. mutants. You start killing people? Whole different story. ]

And you've got one goes by Apocalypse.

[She nods. Seeing no overt reaction to that she continues.] He took over North America. Destroyed or irradiated huge sections of the globe. Culled cities. Labor camps. Mass graves. Pens for genetic experimentation.

I've been fighting against him since I was thirteen. Until I got pulled out anyway.

[ Jesus. That sounds... exceptionally awful. ]

And what, he's doing it for shits and giggles?

[It wasn't good. She didn't even mention the part where she became Batman after her parents were murdered in front of her.]

He talks about survival of the fittest a lot. Kind of a trial by fire for everyone. No idea what made him this way. Maybe immortality made him lose his mind.

I don't know. I don't even think I care. I just want him very dead which...according to someone from home from a year in the future he is. So, there's that. [Not something she'll ever see or could have been a part of, but it happened and that's enough.]

What about your world? What are you up against?

[ Oh yeah, he gets that. The wanting him dead thing. He gets that really, really well. Because there are some things in life, that no matter how violent and potentially wrong, and morally twisted they might seem, are entirely worth it. ]

Lucifer.

[Kitty has done a lot of killing in the pursuit of saving lives. She always had to just push it aside and keep going because someone had to. Someone had to be out there fighting and protecting. But then she was yanked out of the fight and dropped in a safe multi-dimensional prison that was more like a paradise to her. She spent almost a year there with all kinds of time to think about the things she'd done and break down the walls she was using to protect herself. It let people in, sure, but it let other things out too. Those kills weigh heavily on her even if they were necessary. Even if she'd do them again under the same conditions. It's not really about them. It's about her and what she lost in the process of killing.

But she isn't going to lose a moment of sleep over the thought of killing Apocalypse.]

As in the devil?

[ He gets it, he does. The dire need to do what it takes, no matter what that is. Because if there's one thing Dean is, it's obsessed. He's been obsessed for years, for nearly his whole damn life, trying to do everything in his power to save lives. Which has meant killing more things, more people, more everything than he can wrap his mind around any longer. There's just too much blood on his hands and part of him can't tolerate it anymore. Which is exactly why that part has been whisked away somewhere else.

Dean doesn't hesitate though, just volleys his reply right back. ]

The one and only.

I guess that makes him real. [Which he isn't in the Jewish faith. At least not in the same way.]

You were opposing him?

Don't think there's another option.

[She's nodding. She's not surprised he'd see it that way. You could probably curl up and wait for the end, try to run, maybe even try to join his ranks, but she wouldn't have expected any of that from what she does know of Dean.] How long has it been?

[ Well at least the stories continue to be true. Dean's shitty at lying down and taking it, no matter where it's coming from, even if looking at Lucifer means staring down his brother. Because Dean doesn't go down without a fight, not ever. ]

Five years.

[Lucifer being in Sam is definitely a level of awful she hasn't even imagined.]

Long time for something like that. Hard to adjust to...not that. [She didn't handle her first months at the prison well. It's still not smooth sailing all the way.]

[ Dean..... doesn't honestly know what to say to that. Because it took him long enough to adjust to home, and now the prospect of trying to adjust to 'not home' is a rather bleak one. Mostly he's just exceedingly uncomfortable and doesn't have the slightest clue as to what to do about it. ]

I could get used to running water again. [ Liar. ]

Running water is pretty great. [And not something she always had to do without at home. Between the powers and ingenuity sometimes they could get systems running for their various hideouts. But everything was work. If you wanted something you had to make it and probably while people were trying to kill you.]

The food even on the regular ships might still be a step up for you. Still, you'll want to just grab everything you can get on the Marsiva and stuff your pockets just in case. [The prison could not have spoiled her for food more, but if she'd arrived directly here after home she wouldn't have blinked at eating flavored gels.]

[ He gives a vague nod of understanding because yeah, other people probably appreciate there being running water too, otherwise he would smell like so much ass right now. But really, Dean has yet to unfold the idea of privileges here. Namely simple things, like not having to worry about everyone else for two seconds straight, except he's bad at that. He's really good at worrying about everyone that isn't himself and now it's fully a part of him to make sure everyone's needs are met.

Except here, apparently they already are. ]

Don't exactly have big enough pockets to bring everyone lunch.

This isn't kindergarten. Sharing is optional. [But she definitely understands the instinct to take care of everyone.]

Besides, the moon we're at now doesn't have much in the way of food, but the station we were at before had plenty. I'm sure people stocked up as much as they could. [She did for her ship.]

[ But Sharing Is Caring, Kitty. And Dean is the one that decided who the hell got what back home, which really only contributed to his desperate need to control something. Anything. This is just all kinds of weird, what's he even supposed to do with himself. ]

Any other amenities?

Different ships have different upgrades. [Her ship is still missing a lot of those.] But the Iskaulit has things like a community garden, library, and training facility. [And other things she cares less about like prayer rooms.]

The moon is a polluted mess. They spend a lot of time playing games and calling them war games. [Which she finds ridiculous.]

Like a good game of chess?

[ OH HO HE'S SO FUNNY....... everyone's seen that movie, right? ]

[She misses the reference.] Yeah, and paintball and tug-of-war. You play chess? [Is it insulting if she sounds surprised?]

[ Not even a little bit. ]

No, but i'd take paintball.

You'll probably get your chance. [There's a pause.] They're pretty strict about actual violence down there. [Wondering if he knows where the lines are. It's a lot easier to stay in warrior mode than to drop back out of it. He seems pretty reasonable with her though.]

[ What're they gonna do, lock him up after he drops someone for looking at him the wrong way? Naaaah. ]
