[ the feed jumps straight to broadcast with kate bishop's face framed in the shot's centre. she must have only recently been below on the poisoned moon because she's still wearing her mask. give her a moment, and she's tugging it down around her neck before removing it completely. ]

Quick and painless interruption. I promise. Couple weeks ago I talked to a guy who didn't even know about the Avengers. So who does? What about the Young Avengers? I've seen a few familiar faces but there's gotta be more of us. Right? [ oh, she sounds hopeful. ] Or maybe you've heard of the Avengers while you were stuck somewhere else before here. I'd love to hear about it.

[ --- kate waits in silence for a moment, before adding: ] Also, I wish the fleet had a dance club. [ ... ] Hawkeye, out.

[ later that evening, she can be found at the classier gin joint on the iskaulit. although she's in a dress and her hair could be accurately described as done, kate sits with a nursed singapore sling and a notepad at her corner of the bar. it looks as though she's reviewing earlier conversations from the network, and is transcribing the occasional note. that said, she seems approachable. whenever someone passes by, she nods a greeting and smiles. doesn't hurt to be polite. ]

Like I said, she's not all bad, and it's really important for me to work with a powerful woman in a male-dominated industry. She didn't get where she is because she quit every time she was fired.

I mean, I get it. [ it's not like kate stopped being a hero just because someone told her to stop. ] But jeez.

One time she fired me because she thought I was Supergirl. I mean, can you even believe?

[ having once fought a superhero civil war over protecting secret identities, she has an inkling or two of how impressive some cover stories can be.

but it also means she won't hold it against kara if she ever figures out she's lying. ]

Honey, ridiculousness is all I seem to know most days. [ but she's only riling kara up. after all, she has no reason to doubt her. ] You'd be surprised how well some of us manage to blend in with the rest of the world -- and we're not always so free with our codenames as I just was.

Your world's Supergirl probably spends most of her time trying super hard to be extra normal. Irony, right?

[ we're like the same age, kate. don't "honey" me. she clears her throat though ]

Sorry, it's like an automatic response at this point.

We threw my boss off the idea, I think, but. Yeah. Supergirl.

I haven't really decided how I'm going to go here, though.

[ hurricane hawkeye is a force of nature and she will honey anyone she likes!! especially sweet-natured blondes whose friendship she kinda wants. kate bishop is a backwards kinda girl. ]

Personnel. Seems like they wanted to focus on my day job.

Better than cook. [ ... ] I think. I shouldn't assume. You know what they say about green grass and the other side.

Well, I got an office with a couch, so it's not too bad so far.

I don't know, though. Cook could be useful.

Useful, yeah. And it's not like I need a glamorous job because I really don't. But I'm not so much enjoying the fact that I need to be back on board around meal-times. Every day.

[ sometimes she likes to go out. ]

Forced curfew? Ouch. Make people fend for themselves every once in awhile!

[ she's half joking ]

They handle their own breakfasts, at least. [ ... ] And when we're planet- or moon-side, I give myself a bit more slack. Plenty of people like to eat off-ship, after all.

If only there was some food on the moon that actually made it worth it.

I'm really missing the last place. The station.

It's kind of a mixed bag for me, but there are parts of it I miss.

And what're the parts you don't?

I kind of need the sun.

The station had artificial lighting. It doesn't really do it for me.

I suppose my base tan could have used some work.

Well, it's a little more than that but I vote we go to a beach planet next. A habitable beach planet.

Space-California would be pretty welcome right about now.
