[ the feed jumps straight to broadcast with kate bishop's face framed in the shot's centre. she must have only recently been below on the poisoned moon because she's still wearing her mask. give her a moment, and she's tugging it down around her neck before removing it completely. ]

Quick and painless interruption. I promise. Couple weeks ago I talked to a guy who didn't even know about the Avengers. So who does? What about the Young Avengers? I've seen a few familiar faces but there's gotta be more of us. Right? [ oh, she sounds hopeful. ] Or maybe you've heard of the Avengers while you were stuck somewhere else before here. I'd love to hear about it.

[ --- kate waits in silence for a moment, before adding: ] Also, I wish the fleet had a dance club. [ ... ] Hawkeye, out.

[ later that evening, she can be found at the classier gin joint on the iskaulit. although she's in a dress and her hair could be accurately described as done, kate sits with a nursed singapore sling and a notepad at her corner of the bar. it looks as though she's reviewing earlier conversations from the network, and is transcribing the occasional note. that said, she seems approachable. whenever someone passes by, she nods a greeting and smiles. doesn't hurt to be polite. ]

I never said it wasn't fantastically small. [ honestly, who is this negative nelly putting words in her mouth? ] I think you'll find I was asking who here happened to fall under that fantastic, small umbrella. Because I've already counted at least four different universes that do.

That number grows exponentially when talking about people who've been in other interdimensional hubs like this one and so have managed to cross paths with people from any of the aforementioned umbrella people.

[ at no point did she suggest she thought the avengers are in every universe. ]

Considering the sheer amount of people we have in the Fleet, I'm sure one of them has to have some experience as a DJ. I know one guy who's great with a harp, but you can't really get down to a harp.

You'd be surprised. [ ... ] So a harp's a bit of a skip-leap-hop from a cello. But cellos can really rock, at least. I suppose I shouldn't speak for harps.

Uh, kind of? They definitely sound different. But I'm not sure the one guy I know who can play a harp on the fleet can pluck out a dance tune like we're probably thinking of.

Music is music. You just gotta find a way to move to it.

Haha, I suppose that's true though don't expect me to break out into a quadrille when the harpsichord comes on.

It is much appreciated. That was one of the dances the Academy did not go over in our diplomacy classes, sadly.

Diplomacy classes? And I thought boarding school was dull.

They weren't exactly my favorite, but they're mandatory for command track - so do what you gotta do.

But boarding school? Really?

Dad's one of those real jerks who doesn't believe in public school.

[ her voice is pleasant, without a hitch to be heard. but it's a lie. kate is all too aware of her father's lack of interest in what's best for his daughter. working with super-villains is proof enough of that.

but there's no reason to trouble someone else with those details. ]

Hey, at least I've heard you can get into plenty of fun trouble at boarding schools, right?

Oh, sure. Trouble pretty much goes hand-in-hand with a bunch of kids with too much allowance and not enough adult supervision.

I think it goes hand in hand with any kid of the right age and far to many hormones. I didn't have much of an allowance, but I did have a distinct lack of adult supervision.
