[ the feed jumps straight to broadcast with kate bishop's face framed in the shot's centre. she must have only recently been below on the poisoned moon because she's still wearing her mask. give her a moment, and she's tugging it down around her neck before removing it completely. ]

Quick and painless interruption. I promise. Couple weeks ago I talked to a guy who didn't even know about the Avengers. So who does? What about the Young Avengers? I've seen a few familiar faces but there's gotta be more of us. Right? [ oh, she sounds hopeful. ] Or maybe you've heard of the Avengers while you were stuck somewhere else before here. I'd love to hear about it.

[ --- kate waits in silence for a moment, before adding: ] Also, I wish the fleet had a dance club. [ ... ] Hawkeye, out.

[ later that evening, she can be found at the classier gin joint on the iskaulit. although she's in a dress and her hair could be accurately described as done, kate sits with a nursed singapore sling and a notepad at her corner of the bar. it looks as though she's reviewing earlier conversations from the network, and is transcribing the occasional note. that said, she seems approachable. whenever someone passes by, she nods a greeting and smiles. doesn't hurt to be polite. ]

That's...that's too long.

Some have been here over a year. There doesn't seem to be any proof that time passes at anything like the same rate here as there, however. Wanda was here several weeks before I arrived, yet I knew her from a later point in the timeline at home and she had no memory of this place.

And everyone's just okay with the Scarlet Witch wandering around the fleet...?

[ -- look, kate was on wanda's side come the end of children's crusade. but she's surprised everyone else is so chill about it. ]

[He looks a bit rueful at that; while the Vision would be the first to defend her, he was also one of the front-row spectators to her meltdown on the dusty moon a few months ago.]

To be perfectly fair, most of them have no idea what she's capable of.

...I wonder if Wolverine knows she's here. [ because that might be a problem. ]

[He quirks his brow.]

I can guarantee she's different from the version you or he might know, what with the timeline variants.

But she's still a reality warper, right?

[ -- for some mutants, that alone might be damning enough. kate could empathize even if she did side with billy and his mother. ]

[Luckily, he's had a variation of this conversation with Kitty already, so he has some idea what to expect from alternate Wandas.]

If so, she's never demonstrated it; telepathy and telekinesis and energy manipulation, yes, but the only reality she's changed as of yet is that within a mind, not outside it.

[ and yet kate wonders whether it's merely a skill still undeveloped. but that's a cynical thought, and she tries to stamp it out. ]

That should come as a comfort to some people. Things -- things were touch and go, there, for a while.

I am sorry to hear that, though I can't say I'm surprised. That kind of power can be very isolating, and if her support structure were to suffer a loss it could be catastrophic.

I'd love to meet her. [ ... ] How is she handling the Fleet?

Overall, fairly well. I think it's good for her to meet people from different backgrounds who've had lives even stranger than ours.

I was thinking it's been a while since I saw her. Perhaps if you like, we could all meet up on the moon somewhere?

That sounds great. You think she'd be up for it?

I can certainly ask. I don't see why not.

Lemme know what she says. The art museum would be a great place to meet -- don't you think?

[ is she sounding slightly giddy? maybe a little. ]

[She certainly does. Interesting, considering she'd mentioned Wanda's presence might not be fully welcomed by some.]

I'd like that. I'll let you know once I've learned something.

But maybe -- maybe we can hold off telling her about Billy and Tommy. For the time being.

[ because that's a frightful concept. telling the scarlet witch about her kids. ] Would that be alright?

[dryly] If you can avoid thinking about them, or at least thinking about their context, yes. She won't be able to read more than surface thoughts without touching you, so do keep that in mind.
