Broadcast
[The camera shows a handsome, very built man sleeping in a bed. And it continues to show that for a very long time. Either is started broadcasting very early, or he's doing a very good job of pretending to be asleep when he's not.

When he does move, he sits up carefully, pushing his hair back from his face. He's wearing cargo pants and a plain white t-shirt that seems somehow too... mundane on him.

He gets up after a brief stretch and moves over to the communicator, picking it up and clicking it off without offering a word.]


On ship
[Apollo eventually emerges from his room, a bit somber and subdued. He wanders around in bare feet, moving quietly along the metal hallways. When he finds a window, he leans his hands against it, looking at the distant star at the heart of this system with undisguised longing.]

Jack speaks the language of whatever city he's in. In his own accent, which is sort of funny.

Maybe all that's true, but I still feel a bit like the team meat head.

Hm. A... grunt. Team muscle. Jeroen thinks, Angie thinks, I beat up battle cruisers.

Ah. I always assumed that involved a fair bit of thinking as well.

Nah. Not for me. I was made for this stuff. I'm great in a fight, just not great with over all things. Working decisions for a team. I... freeze.

A good team does know how to delegate.

Jenny, our old team leader, Jenny Sparks, she was amazing at it. I don't know if it was experience or just natural talent. Maybe both.

She was convinced that when she led teams, people died, but she kept us alive. All of us.

And a good leader should be humble. Even fearing death can be an asset.

Jenny never feared her own death.

Didn't even tell us when it was coming. Just... killed God and then told us she was clocking out.

She had a different fear in mind.

Well, yes. 'God' wiping out humanity was a bit more pressing on all of us.

I still miss her like crazy.

I have been inundated with every single human experience there is. I am both the most and the least human person you'll meet.

Different reality. I've lived out the sum total of my ancestor's experiences, ranging back to the Egyptian era.
