Who: two nerds and you
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: Marsiva
When: now!

[ The audio comes on sharply, but everything is still dark as two people discuss their situation.]

Is that the camera? Can you get it to work?

I - think so? Here, push this --

I am pushing it, Hank. I thought you knew about these from that show you keep watching. Space Trek?

It's Star Trek and that isn't exactly - you know, the same thing as this.

Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

But do keep it pertinent.

[ He nods. It lines up fairly well with his own theory of evolution. ]

What are your powers exactly? If you don't mind me asking.
neversets: (Superhero)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm... well, solar powered for a start. Any star will work. I'm stronger, tougher, faster, that's just regular. I can feel the air fairly well these day. Fly. I'm good at flying.

Midnighter would skin me for spilling my secrets like this, but fuck him.

I guess I'm what a lot of people think of when you think of the classic superhero. Flying, glowing, catching planes, punching buildings.

[ He mentally ticks those off. Powered by the sun . . . an interesting possibility. Perhaps that extra energy is what allows for more than one mutant ability. He wonders if this would be the next step. ]

Is it really a secret? It doesn't seem . . . [ Secret-worthy, in a way. ] that surprising to know.
neversets: (Attentive)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Midnighter's... not paranoid. He has computers, in his head, ticking through how everything works. He's the most dangerous post-human in the world, always calculating how to look after us...

Well. Was. Before he left us.

Cock biting bastard.

[ There's real anger there, hurt and betrayal bursting off him and then being pushed down, muted. ]

Sorry.
axiomed: (The life I knew by heart)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ah. Well, that sounded familiar. ]

It's fine. We all see the world in various ways.
neversets: (Apollo)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
I trusted him to keep me safe for twelve years, so I'm used to being the trusting one while he was running the numbers on how dangerous it really was.

He walked out on us ten months ago. I have issues about it still.
axiomed: (Anyone in there)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Well. It could be worse. ]

You don't think he'll come back?
neversets: (Face in hand)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I never thought he'd leave us.

[ Leave me, goes unspoken. ]

I don't know.
axiomed: (To fall so hard for you?)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ Charles goes quiet for a while. How often had he thought of that before? ]

I find that leaving is only final if both parties believe it. If there is space in your life for him to come back . . . then maybe he will.
neversets: (Serious)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I could trust him. He left. No explanation. Not even excuses. Just left.

[ He'd scream and hit and cry and knows he'd probably still end up taking him back, which he hates about himself right now. He's only just started to learn how to define himself as Apollo, not Apollo-and-Midnighter. ]
axiomed: (When I met you)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Then that's your decision.

[ But Charles can see where it might lead. And it might never lead down a road where his lover comes back.

Charles compromised. And learned. ]
neversets: (Serious)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Apollo watches him for a moment, then decides to ask anyway. ]

Who left you?
axiomed: (The weeks and months)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[ Charles doesn't respond. Then with a sigh. ]

Everyone did.
neversets: (Attentive)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so sorry.

[ He is. Losing people is hard. Having them leave is worse. ]
axiomed: (My mind and my wings)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs. It was some time ago and he's learned to cope better. ]

I learned that closing myself off means I never let them back in. And I rather have them back than to know I might never have them again.
neversets: (Attentive)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
... are you a hugging sort of person? Because you really look like you need a hug, but I don't want to ambush one on you.
axiomed: (I was on a downslide)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ He blinks before flashing a smile. ]

I assure you, I'm all right. Though the sentiment is appreciated.
neversets: (Apollo)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
You're not, but okay.

[ He can accept the need to be okay, even when you're not. He lived like that for the first two months. ]

You ever think you need a hug, give me a shout. I give mean hugs.
axiomed: (All good things now come from you)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's vaguely glad Erik can't hear that. ]

I'll keep that in mind, but I'm sure I'll survive.
neversets: (Default)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ Apollo shrugs slightly. He likes hugging people, but he gets that a lot of people don't feel the same. ]

Tell me about your Earth?
axiomed: (Remind me of how I used to feel)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
There isn't much to say. Mutants are slowly emerging in the world and they're often faced with a lot of prejudice. Hopefully, that will cease to be an issue in the future.

[ Not yet. Maybe not ever, but Charles knows things can change for the better. He's seen it happen. ]
neversets: (Apollo)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
So... powered people aren't accepted? Or liked? Are they all from this x-gene? What year is it? How do you deal with aliens?
axiomed: (The days and nights)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Aliens?

[ That felt like a non sequitur. ]

It's 1973. I wouldn't say they're not accepted, just that they're not that well known yet.
neversets: (Attentive)

[personal profile] neversets 2016-04-09 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. Okay, bit behind where my world is.

Aliens. Post-humans fight alien invasions. Some post-humans are aliens. Or alien made.
axiomed: (I give my everything)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-04-09 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
I certainly don't think we've had any dealings with aliens.

[ Their lives were complicated enough. ]
