Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

Oh, I'm friends with a woman who's a mutant here. Actually, she said she was a teacher...

That sounds like a great place for people to learn.

That is the idea. I know that having powers and not fully understanding them or how to control them can be a terrifying experience. My hope is that there is a place where that can be expressed without fear.

I'm not a mutant, but I have some... peculiarities, I guess, and I would've liked a place like that, I think.

[ He doesn't push. ]

Well, the working theory is that time works different here. So maybe you'll be where you left off when you get to go home.

It holds water. Erik has been here for a month but he certainly hadn't gone missing at home.

I don't know if that's reassuring or not.

Well, that's . . . odd but not unusual. Coming from different points of time does happen in these places.

I met a time traveler once.

Really?

Yes. It was hard to believe but it was no less true.

I don't doubt that it can happen, I just don't know that I've met someone who would define themselves as a time traveller.

Oh, he wouldn't call himself that. He'd probably call himself "bub" or something along those rustic lines.

[ What fondness. ]

"Time bub" at least?

He's not the most . . . verbose of individuals.

There's always one or two of those, no matter where you're from.

[ He chuckles. ]

Well. He was charming. After a fashion.

I'm kind of in between hobbies at the moment, so it's no trouble at all.

Mmm. How do people keep themselves occupied on a ship?

Socialize, find pet projects, mix all the gels together just to see how bad they taste? It's kind of self-directed. I clean and try to decorate, much to the chagrin of some of my shipmates. My friend Winn is working on an engineering project.

Well, that comes to some relief. I don't think I would cope being stuck on a ship with little to nothing to keep myself busy.
