It's Star Trek and that isn't exactly - you know, the same thing as this.

Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

Sentinels, hmm? [She sounds familiar and a little tired.]

Did he? Prevent it that is.

[ He's quiet for a few minutes. ]

I believe we did.

That's good. Sentinels can be a handful. [She doesn't exactly mean to be dismissive. They are legitimately dangerous and time consuming and she has no way of knowing how similar the ones in her world were to the ones he's talking about, but they rarely got to number one on the priority list.]

The humans kept sending them over without bothering to give them any direction on not attacking the people helping them.

I heard they became hard to control and indiscriminate about their targets.

[ But Logan spoke of the future in the vaguest of terms. ]

It wouldn't surprise me. Mine couldn't be the only world where everything was falling apart. [She's met others with similarly tragic or hostile worlds, but none with X-Men, so that part is a little new. Not that the other worlds sounded like paradises. Just less "and then everyone died even the baby."]

Turns out fixing a timeline isn't as easy as it sounds though. [When did it ever sound easy? She means it's even more impossible than it sounds.]

[ He lets out a bark of laughter. ]

No, it certainly wasn't easy.

I mean even after you do the thing you might just split it? [Something she hadn't considered before Kurt arrived and told her their world lived on instead of simply being reset and erasing and rewriting them.]

How did you do it? Was it the M'kraan crystal? Or just changing things in the past to change the future?

. . . There was a certain event we had to prevent. Once that changed, well . . . Logan never came back. I assume it went well.

[ The Sentinel program was scrapped after all. ]

Well, changing the past seems like it works, so maybe you're good.

For what it's worth I hope you are. [Misery might love company, but Kitty would rather see someone get a win.]

I believe it.

[ And he'll continue to believe it. Until Apocalypse comes, probably. ]

[She looks at him, taking in the differences and the similarities of the man she'd come to know in the prison. She'd missed him after he left and not just the day she realized he was gone or that first week. He was someone she'd think about from time to time and wonder if she'd see again. He's part of the reason Leto intrigued her so much. She was used to losing friends in the prisoner. They'd be "lost in the stabilizer" and some came back and some didn't and memories were always in question. There weren't that many she held on to even after they were gone. She couldn't afford to or her mind would be nothing but ghosts.

If this is the same man, but without his time at MarinaNova either because he never actually lived it somehow or it was wiped from his mind then it seems like he's been through a lot between then and now. There's an urge to worry about him and be there for him, but she hods herself in check because he's another stranger wearing a friend's face Still, she feels inclined to associate those positive memories with him the same way she's inclined to give the bad to McCoy.

Silent a few beats too long, she reaches for something to say.]

I usually make better first impressions. Or second impressions.

[ His lips twitch slightly. ]

You did come off a little strong there.

It was the Jesus crack, wasn't it? Hey, I think it suits you. It's very face framing. [She knows it was the other thing. She actually manages a slight smile though. There's still a lot of tension and frustration with McCoy and...bittersweet with not getting her friend back, but a smile she can do.]

[ He runs his hand through his hair. ]

[ It was just a lot of effort for an appearance he didn't pay much attention to. There were other things on his mind. ]

Well, you're probably looking at some free time now, so I bet you can make that happen.

How are you doing with all of this? Crazy mutant ladies threatening your friend aside.

It is a little strange, but nothing particularly different.

[ There's Mystique, but Charles won't talk about that with anyone but Erik and Hank. No one needs to know that Raven was his sister, once. ]

And I'm fairly adaptable.

Have you done this kind of thing before? Being abducted into another place you couldn't easily leave filled with people from the multiverse? McCoy said he was from the same place Erik had been. [Yes, she had managed to go on and exchange slightly less terse words with him.] The place he got the name Blade at least.

To some extent. It is the first time I've seen so many mutants. Usually, it's just been Erik and myself. My name was Miles.

[ Hank came later. ]

Other mutants passed through the prison, but my double and you probably had the longest stays. There was a Rogue and a Logan who clocked some time I guess. [She's had a harder time with them. Logan only barely recognized her as "one of the students" and Rogue and she never managed to hit it off.]

Miles, huh?

Ometotchtli had a theme. We used units of measurement for names.

[ It's a name he holds no strong attachment to. He only used them out of obligation and necessity. ]

I can't remember the name of the place he said, but that doesn't sound right. It started with a K. You were from a different one?

That's the one. Kyriakos. He was on a different team.

Oh, right. He mentioned there were teams there. Was it confrontational?

Sometimes. But not always.

[ It certainly was rough, especially for a telepath. The atmosphere was often tense, distrustful and downright frustrating. ]

For what it's worth I haven't heard anything that makes me thinks our ships are ever pitted against each other. They better not be. [She likes her crew, but she has no intention to fight against other X-Men and friends she's made on her captor's say so.]
