It's Star Trek and that isn't exactly - you know, the same thing as this.

Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

Oh, come on, I might love her, but babies are basically this bundle of gross, mess and consumption. They get better once you toilet train them, but you haven't seen mess until you've had a floating baby with gastro.

They can't be that bad . . . can they?

[asks this guy, who hasn't been near a baby in probably years and years]

I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or be insulted.

Maybe both. You are adorable, and wonderfully naive about babies. I wish I could be so innocent about them again.

It isn't - it isn't innocence, it's - not being exposed to them very often. [Hank don't say "exposed" like babies are a disease]

[ Apollo laughs. His whole self comes alive with it. ]

They're not contagious, you know. You don't spend much time with infants, I get that.

[at least someone's entertained. Then again Hank is used to this.

He just sighs]

Aw, cheer up, Hank. Come on, let's exercise this cooking augment of mine and I'll knock up something to eat.

I'm plenty cheerful. [he reaches up to fix his glasses, but he pauses to look at Apollo over the top of them] You aren't the first to tease me.

[the cheerful part's a lie, but he's also being very good about keeping everything in check]

I won't say no to food, though.

But I'll never mean anything cruel by it.

[ It was a promise. He wasn't a cruel man and he wouldn't tease if it actually upset or hurt Hank. That wasn't his aim. ]

If you want me to stop, just say so. I know how to respect that word.

I might be - innocent and naive about some things, but I know friendly teasing from the not-so-friendly. If I minded, I'd say so. I've learned to open my mouth about some things.

[ He sets off down the hallway, heading off to find a kitchen of some kind. ]

You're not vegetarian, are you? Only I was planning on cooking up something with meat.

[Hank follows after, stuffing his hands in his pockets]

No, I'll eat almost anything. I'm not very picky.

Great, because I have no idea what they'll have or what I'll be able to manage.

I'm almost 100% sure it's better than anything I could manage, so I'm willing to take the risk.

I hope I don't make you regret those words.

You won't. I have faith in your - er, your new abilities as a cook.

[ That looks like a kitchen. He heads in, looking about and letting information flood his mind. He heads for the fridge and starts pulling things out, examining them and setting them aside. ]

Omelette sounds good, right?

Knowing how to do something and actually doing something are two very different things. Didn't you say you could cook a little bit before?

[Hank sort of stands out of the way, preferring to stand rather than find a seat]

Yeah. That whole fatherhood thing drove me to learn. The first few involved a lot of burned to a crisp things. I'm really good at that.

[ He starts setting out eggs and vegetables, something that smells a bit like chives and that fruit thing is close enough to a tomato to count. ]

That's about what I'm at, so if it doesn't come out crisped, that's a success to me.

I think the only thing I can come close to claiming is I know how to bake a little.

[ Apollo starts chopping up vegetables with the confidence of someone who can't be hurt by an accidental knife nick. ]

Baking is beyond me.
