It's Star Trek and that isn't exactly - you know, the same thing as this.

Right. . . . Wait, I think I see something on the side.

[ And the video flickers on, the red light glowing softly. It focuses on two men. One in a wheelchair and the other right next to him, peering curiously at the camera before they step back satisfied. ]

Well, that’s over and done with. Hello to anyone who might be out there. My name is Charles Xavier and this is Hank McCoy. Apparently we’ve been kidnapped again, by an unknown force again for some mysterious reason.

[muttered:] Again. [and louder] So if anyone would be kind enough to explain exactly what's going on, we'd appreciate it. You have our thanks in advance.

[ Huh. It's the same mutant, albeit younger . . . and talking like a teenager. Unexpected. He's never met two alternate versions in one place. How would that work? How would time function? Are the same genetically?

That isn't a real word. And are you saying I couldn't be young once? I'm not quite ready to lose my hair.

[Well the space time continuum seems to be holding up fine so far.]

Well... I guess you had to be young once. Or... Are young right now. [He scratches his head in confusion.]

[ His lips twitch. For once, he seems genuinely amused. ]

I had a brief look into the future once. I got to speak with my future self.

[A beat.]

Okay, you know, at this point? I don't think I should be surprised that time travel happens. Of course it does.

So you met... the future you. ...The you that I know?

Most likely. Though I'm afraid I didn't get the chance to see or meet any other X-Men.

[ Due to the apocalyptic nature of it all. ]

[Excuses, excuses.]

Well, then... I guess now you can make up for lost time? [He posits meekly. He may not still be sure that this is legit, but he's willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. That's what he feels that the prof would have done, after all.]

[ Now here he sees signs of his Mystique. He's still not sure, though. Despite the overwhelming resemblance to Azazel and Mystique, Charles knows better than to immediately come forth with that knowledge.

He could be wrong, after all. ]

I do know I have a lot of time to make up for. In fact, I was still trying to set up the school.

[His eyes widen as he tries to imagine it. He really must be from way back.]

Then... You have a ways to go, my friend. [A nervous laugh. It's still so odd and awkward, to see the professor so young and to talk to him like he's just a peer who's not much older.] I'm part of that school, where - and when - I come from. And... It's been helping me. A lot.

[ Charles listens to this intently and his face goes gentle. He's reminded strongly of Logan and his impassioned but powerful need to find the students - his students. The hope that still kindled in the future and in Logan. ]

I'll help them all if I can. I'll do my best to.

[Kurt responds warmly.]

...You're sounding a whole lot like the Professor right now.
