Who: margaery tyrell
Broadcast: fleet wide
Action: the windrose and all around the moon
When: current
[ enter margaery tyrell of the windrose. remember? silks, beautiful curls, too generous of a cleavage for a sixteen year old? queen to be?
today, the pale pink silks are tainted, as well as the usual fair skin with a mixture of dirt, mud, leaves and at least three colors of paint. ]
I do believe I won against the locals in their odd little paint game. I find it quite brilliant if a little bit of a hazard if one is very attached to their clothes.
[ the queen to be seems much more of a brat today ]
I offer a different game of chance. some smallfolk in my realm say that one can tell someone's future and their traits according to the palm of their hands. I was told it is all false but.
[ there is a but with margaery tyrell ]
A guessing game! I shall attempt to read your palm and if three of my guesses are correct, that must be worth a prize. I shall leave it to you to choose what to give me. If I lose, I shall of course be in debt of one prize to my company.

[ haughty and mostly bratty but she does pen her palm to receive her gift ]
my goodness, how beautiful. where did you come such finery?
no subject
So I have heard. You have my congratulations. [She places the coin in her palm.] And my sympathies.
The coin is called a sovereign where I am from. It is the highest standard of coin in Thedas. I do not have much in the way here of things - besides weapons and armor and clothes. Nothing so lovely as that rose you had with you when you came. But it is a little piece of my home, now yours.

him. or his brother. out of the two, margaery surely prefers the younger one ]
It is beautiful.
[ she presses a happy kiss to her palm ]
come. I have a spare necklace of silk, we shall attach it to it. That way I can always wear it.
no subject
You are too kind, but I am pleased you like it so. I will help you fashion it, if you so need.

[ as pretty as her gift ended up being. she leads her to her room, one very much like all the others with some dried flowers in a cup, the jewelry she had on her in a box and gowns of silk in a little closet ]
it is quite the bore. I do wish we could paint it.
[ she sits, gestures for her to join her ]
I will ask you something.
[ said as she reaches into the box to take out a long ribbon of pale green silk ]

[She nods in agreement; their rooms really are drab. On her ship, they pain the outside of their doors, which is fun, but it does nothing to cheer up the room inside.
She takes a seat next to Margaery, leaning back on her arms.]
And I will happily listen.
no subject
[ she smiles, busies her fingers with the task of making a necklace out of her little present ]
Why sympathies? for my upcoming reign? You must have known I would ask, you know me already.
no subject
[She'll still keep her words in mind, though. perhaps as she gets to know Margaery better, she'll be able to ascertain best when she is kidding and when she isn't.
And ah, that question.
Riona's lips twitch. A part of her wondered if Margaery would ask. She almost didn't say anything, but it would have felt a bit too dishonest. To just say congratulations and pretend that becoming queen is all rainbows and sunshine.]
The life of a monarch is not easy. You're tasked with helping rule an entire country, filled with people of varying needs and demands. I understand you are marrying into it, so I imagine your will be husband will be the go-to for most decisions. Yet, you do not strike me as someone who would be content to have no say in anything that goes on.
no subject
[ especially not with a husband-to-be like joffrey who takes the lives of men and children and enjoys it. certainly not with joffrey. ]
Our realm is in war, I do not know if I told you. They name it the War of the Five Kings. My - husband-to-be is quite preoccupied with matters of armies and battles and such matters that I hardly understand.
[ and if she does, that shall remain another secret ]
In the meantime, there is a need for someone to take care of the people, their needs. many children were left without parents, the state of the orphanages and their numbers must improve as well as the living conditions of the smallfolk. I am not a war lord, not by far but I can certainly make those my responsibilities.
[ she takes her hand and squeezes it ]
You are sweet to tell me this and brave. few would dare. they must all think me a silly girl in silks with little idea of what she is doing.
no subject
[Those who sit on the throne remain a nebulous entity to her, but from what little she has heard of them, they are not good people.]
Good. I am glad you recognize that. In war, it is the commoners who suffer the most. The nobles may lose coin in war, but commoners lose their lives.
[She returns the squeeze.]
Then they clearly do not know you well. But from what I have gathered, you will do fine. Just keep your wits about you and don't lose yourself in the politics and scheming.

[ this is but a game, her grandmother had said - with the highest stakes there can be. To be the winner, one must be a good player but to lose oneself entirely - to become old and mad for power and cruel like the lioness of Lannnister - ]
Becoming someone else. Someone -- not good
no subject
[She thinks of Anora, smart and savvy and diplomatic. And yet, she was willing to side with her father, though he was half crazed and nearly destroyed Ferelden, just so she could stay queen.]
It does not mean you will definitely fall prey to it. Remember who you are and where you came from. Do not hold onto power for power's sake. That's where you'll get into trouble.
no subject
[ she smiles a little ]
If I close my eyes I can make believe we are in Highgarden, lying on soft grass. The air is warm and carries the scent of roses and summerwine.
no subject
[Some will be unhappy with her, but such is the way of things. You cannot please everyone.]
Hopefully we are partaking in said summerwine. [Said with laughter in her voice.]
no subject
[ the only way to spend a wonderful summer day, really. ]
it is the sweetest wine in the realm. Hopefully we were not overly partaking in it -
no subject
[Overly partaking? Well...]
Not to the point of utter drunkenness, oh no. [She's been there. And it has its time and place, and can be fun in the right company.] But perhaps a tad. Where your head starts buzzing a bit and you're feeling giggly.
no subject
[ she bites back a giggle ]
I suppose that is the charm of youth and one must enjoy it while they can.
no subject
[She nods.]
Precisely. There will be plenty of time later to be old and serious.
no subject
[ and though she has her worries, she can still conjure up the youthful glee of a young lady in her prime with all the world in the palms of her hands ]
mayhaps one day we shall some wine here and we could drink a cup or two. certainly, there are no flowers or fruit but the company is pleasing.
no subject
[Dressy way of referring to the bars.]
no subject
[ in passing, here and there. the name seems to come up every now and then in different conversations. ]
I felt it would be a bit too adventurous to go by myself.
