Fellow travelers, [ how else is she meant to greet them?

today, the network flickers to life and its image frames sansa's face with an almost rehearsed precision. by now, the last licks of dye have left her hair. she is fully auburn once again -- and the rich copper strands, a colour inherited from her mother, are carefully braided and arranged in a style that would have taken time even with a helping hand. how long did it take her alone, one wonders? and she's wearing silk, to boot. ]

Begging your pardons -- but has anyone ever found lemons at any of our stops? Any of the way-stations? [ all this polish for such a childish, innocent question. ] At first, I was grateful enough for the false lemon flavours the Atroma give us -- but just once, I'd like to taste the real thing again.

[ she seems about to end the feed, but: ] Or if anyone has any lemons in their pantry, I would pay for a few. I have some credits put by -- [ sheepish, because it isn't her place to be discussing coin. ] Or mayhaps I could barter with some embroidery. My stitches are very neat. I promise.

[ otherwise, member of the blue fish could find her in her quarters while working quietly. at a later hour, she finally does something bold and takes a shuttle (all alone!) to the iskaulit, where she searches out the gardens. she wants to see green again. she wants to dream of summer. sansa crouches to touch a leaf -- heedless of the way her silk trails on the garden's ground floor. ]

[His fingers paused - not because of her expression, of which he is used to - but her words. A frown passes his lips.]

From the tales I hear, it doesn't sound as though it's the sort of place I should want to visit.

Well, I admit, it isn't the cleanest of places ... and the local culture leaves something to be desired if you are looking for something outside of a war game. However, I believe it would do you some good to get out and see new places. Experience new things.

[He lifted a hand.] Only ... if you want to.

[ war games are certainly not her style -- and so she's thought it more prudent to (once again) stay locked within her ship. she feels safe aboard the blue fish, and so it's terrible difficult to relinquish that safety for so much unknown. ]

I saw the masks they give out -- the ones they charge no coins for. They are rather ugly, my lord.

[ and certainly sansa is worried about looking ugly, but her fear runs deeper than that. ]

[He searches her face, hears the tone in that voice. He's heard that thread, that faint shiver in her tone.]

Yes, they are ugly. But they do work effectively, my Lady. I can attest to that.

[ in other words -- what makes it so worth the mask? ]

The machines, my lady. The ability to find out what happened to their machines, so I might be able to help them fix them ... and perhaps make those masks unnecessary.

[Is his honest reply.]

[ it isn't a question -- although there's a twinge in her voice. a shred of upspeak. uncertainty. ]

I do believe I can ... if they will allow it.

[He is not entirely sure that they will -- but he at least has to try.]

My lord, I never anticipated you should take so well to your augment. [ there's a compliment lost in there. somewhere. hidden beneath layers of mild surprise. it's not that she didn't think him clever -- oh, she thought him exceedingly clever. but the husband she'd observed had been more apt to turn his skills to other pursuits.

she'll never forget how much he drank. nor how much he read. ]

I have actually always had a knack for building things ... designing them, putting them together. I do not know if Bran has told you, but I made him a saddle that he could use to ride with his legs. Based on a design I modified for myself.

[He's always been proud of that saddle. No matter what else anyone has said about him - he knows that he will look to those who are in need, no matter who they were.]

I confess -- my brothers and I do not much talk of you, Lord Tyrion. But it sounds as though you did him a real kindness. Thank you.

I am not surprised. I tend not to talk about the Starks either. [One corner of his mouth lifted.]

So ... I have stepped up to the challenges of modern engineering. With all your talents, Lady Sansa, I can only imagine you will do just as well on the surface.

My -- my augment would have me conduct the duties of a personnel officer. [ she states, and then wonders whether he'll laugh.

she would have, were she in his shoes. ]

[He arches an eyebrow, before leaning into the camera.]

Should not a personnel officer understand her personnel? See what they see, see what they might like?

I try, Lord Tyrion. Such empathy takes time, I've learned.

Well, then give yourself time. I do not wish to push, only encourage. You've been locked away for too long. You should enjoy the sunlight.

...Sunlight? [ hesitation. somehow, the metaphor catches her off-guard. after a heartbeat, she understands the hidden kindness in the suggestion. her cheeks flush. ] Y-yes, my lord. I will, my lord.
