(no subject)

Who: Kara & Friends (and future friends)
Broadcast: video / fleetwide
Action: The Tourist, kitchen or Kara's room
When: now!

[ In her broadcast, Kara is in her PJs, hair down and glasses off. She looks like she just woke up not too long ago and the overall vibe is very "confessional vlog". She doesn't seem distressed, just a little confused, and tired—though her eternal optimism is always there somewhere. ]

Hey, so, question: On a scale from "wow that's super weird we've never heard of something like that" to "it must be a Wednesday on the Fleet", how common is it to just like, get a bunch of "new" information from home? Which, now that I think about it, is kind of a dumb thing to ask because we have implants that give us job skills training. But I'm just wondering. Uh, in the abstract? Something like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go get some coffee and food because I'm starving. Who knew that sleeping was such hard work?

[He huffs a small laugh.]

Sorry, these places seem to stay more than a little awkward. I'm Qing-Yuan. Ah... if there's anything you need, let me know and I'll be happy to help.

[Ahahaha.]

I can imagine. Suddenly waking up with more memories than you had sounds truly jarring, even beyond the things granted by our implants.

Fun can be a little frustrating, though. [It's spoken good-naturedly, the tone someone takes when they're fond of the source of their frustrations. He's definitely going to miss his current frustrations.] It's nice to meet you, Kara.

I can't disagree with that.

Have you been here long? [He's been slacking on checking the communications threads, oops.]

[The answer takes him a moment more because it's... been longer than he'd realised.]

Ah... I suppose it's been about six months now. I hadn't realised how quickly time passed...

It does. And I had thought it was going to be rough when Jennifer mentioned she'd been here for nine months back then.

She is. She's a doctor on the Wonderduck, I believe.

Yeah... there are a few who've been here longer, I believe, but not many. It doesn't bode well for us, in some ways.

As far as I've heard, time doesn't really move for anyone until they go back, so that seems true enough.

Aside from the fact that time still passes for us, anyway, to make us miss those who aren't here.

[Ahahaha, about... that...]

Mostly just the circumstances. I don't really have a lot of friends back home, and my parents and I don't talk overmuch.
