[ In her broadcast, Kara is in her PJs, hair down and glasses off. She looks like she just woke up not too long ago and the overall vibe is very "confessional vlog". She doesn't seem distressed, just a little confused, and tired—though her eternal optimism is always there somewhere. ]

Hey, so, question: On a scale from "wow that's super weird we've never heard of something like that" to "it must be a Wednesday on the Fleet", how common is it to just like, get a bunch of "new" information from home? Which, now that I think about it, is kind of a dumb thing to ask because we have implants that give us job skills training. But I'm just wondering. Uh, in the abstract? Something like that.

Anyway, I'm going to go get some coffee and food because I'm starving. Who knew that sleeping was such hard work?

Only the best holiday! There's a big feast, and everyone gives gifts, and there are masquerades where everyone wears masks, and the town fool gets named king for a day.

That sounds like a lot of fun, and a little like Halloween.

What's Halloween?

Kids dress up in costumes and go around begging for candy, and there are parties and stuff.

Really? They beg for sweets and... get some?

It's a prearranged agreement. You only go to the houses that have their lights on.

It was strange for me when I learned about it too.

But that sounds... really neat!

And this goes for all children? Rich and poor? What about elves?

I'm sure it varies by community... and we don't have elves. As far as I know.

You don't? You must come from a very strange world. You at least have dwarves, right?

...In the sense that humans come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes...? But probably not in the way you're thinking.

Humanity wise, yeah. For the most part. There's a small number of aliens, as well.

I - haven't ever heard that word before. Are they a different religion?

Oh. No, they're from different planets entirely.

So, like, the places we've been visiting in the fleet?

Exactly. Just... on Earth.

There's only a very small percentage anyway.

It just seems so strange to me. I mean, we have the qunari - no one knows where they came from, because they're not telling, but I'm pretty sure they didn't come from another planet.

I mean, how would you know if they're not telling?

Well, for one thing, they came on ships - boats, you know, real ships. On the water.

That's a pretty good clue.

I mean, I suppose it's possible that before that, they came from - the sky, but if they could fly, I'm not sure why they'd sail to Thedas.

Maybe their ships crashed?

Maybe. But they're pretty smart - you'd think after four hundred years they would've fixed them?
