Hey! Is anyone here? Can anyone hear me? I'm-- uh, I think I'm trapped! Hello?

[Wait, there's a red light and some kind of screen! He rushes over, not really recognizing this kind of technology but he'll take it. The stuff in the ranches was a lot like this, just less polished.]

There has to be a way... Maybe I can pull up a map? What would Jade do... Wait, I know! [He smashes a LOT OF BUTTONS. And turns the feed off in the process.

Well we are not in chains, and there are no implements of torture, nor are any of us injured or our companions slain around us. [ Hello this has totally been his situation at some point ] So, although tis hardly an ideal situation, I believe as the saying goes, "it could be worse". I am sorry that you were taken from a bad time, but I fear there is little to be done about it, now.

[That's a good way to make him shut up. He has nightmares like that.]

[ Ah, but that hurt he knows far too well, and Maglor winces, sympathetically, but his voice stays calm and low ]

I am sorry. I wish I could help, but we are all of us trapped here. If tis any consolation, rumor says that those who return home do so to the time that they left, as if no time at all passed.

I do not know. [ Maglor shrugs a little sadly ]

I am only a few weeks earlier than you - and unlike you, there is nothing for me to return to, so it matters little to me, one way or another. But there are those here who have been here far longer than I, and they were the ones who said so, so... perhaps.

[He sucks in a breath and looks... determined.]

... Then I'll have to trust them. There's nothing I can do right now, and worrying about my brother won't help him.

[ A small sad smile ]

That is all any of us can do. My sympathies for your brother - I think no one can help but worry for your family.

Asch hates it when people worry about him. He always pushes himself so hard, though. He's-- he has a weak heart, but that never stopped him from chasing after me. Even with medicine, they said he wouldn't live to see twenty.

[He takes a deep breath, steadies himself.]

Anyway, sorry about freaking out on you. I'm Luke.

[ Maglor wouldn't be offended if he did! ]

He sounds much like some of my brothers too, personality-wise. I am sorry that he is unwell, but that sort of will to live... well. I would not be surprised if he surprised everyone.

[ He shakes his head and tips his head in a small bow ]

I never looked at it that way. Asch would love to prove the doctors wrong, I know that much for sure. [Asch would also like to sacrifice himself so that Luke can live a peaceful life, but that's not happening.]

It's nice to meet you, Maglor. [A pause, and he tilts his head.] I thought elves hated humans. You must not be from my world at all...

The will to live, I find, is an interesting one that can tip the balance in unexpected ways.

[ Maglor blinks back at him curiously ]

Hate? Why would I? Tis true that Men have betrayed us, but they have also been staunch allies, and on occasion, good friends. [ Also, one of his foster sons became human, so Maglor has a vested interest ]

We do not always see eye to eye, but that is little reason to condemn a whole race. [ Orcs, on the other hand ... ] But I am finding few folk here from my world, so perhaps not. If so, I grieve that things have become so bad in yours.

[He might understand that a little further on in his canon, but not now.]

I don't know why elves hate humans. I've always been told their worlds are totally different... Even their children, half-elves, can't live in peace. They have nowhere to go.

[It's a plight he's never considered, personally, before a few weeks ago. He didn't have any half-elf friends growing up. Imagine his surprise when he found out his companion was one.]

People are always scared of what they don't understand.

[ Maglor laughs a little softly - sad and wistful, and perhaps fond, the memory of two half-elven children running into his arms dancing briefly in his eyes ]

The greatest heroes I knew came from the line of the Peredhil, the half-elven. So your world is very different to mine, it seems. They were strange, yes, caught between two worlds. But they had as much place as any - more, I think, considering their deeds. I hope your world finds reconciliation.

I hope so, too. A lot of people hate half-elves because of what the Desians do, but... nothing's really black and white, you know? Especially people.

[He tilts his head.]

Sounds like my world could learn a little from yours.

Very few things are, I find. [ Maglor shrugs a little wryly ]

I have never heard of the Desians, which is another piece of evidence that we are far separate! In time, at least, if not also space.

[ A soft huff ] We are hardly perfect! I am sure mine could learn from yours as well.
