[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]

Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]

Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!

So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

[Winn, you are going to find that everyone in Westeros has some sort of nickname. It's an honorific, as much as it is a description.]

We are actually family, in a way. She is my niece-in-law.

[ nicknames are fine, there's just something inherently creepy about a grown man calling a teenager 'queen of flowers'. unless they're related - ok - creep factor significantly lowered, even if it is an in-law relation. ]

So you're the royal uncle? What do I call you?

[ please let it just be a simple name, like margaery, he's not actually crazy about the idea of having to use titles. ]

[Oh Winn, what you don't know about Westeros is that you are considered a man by the time you turn fourteen. Live hard and die young should be their country's motto.]

I am, at that. And you may call me Tyrion Lannister, just Tyrion, or the Imp. I have been known to answer to all three.

[ margaery's tried to explain it to him a little, it mostly made him want to give her hugs. ]

You're Kitty's friend! [ the one he's not allowed to be wittier or more charming than. as if permission is what's keeping him from that. ]

It's really nice to meet you, Tyrion. [ he will not be calling you imp because that is just...no, not touching that, no one can make him. ]

[Oh, Winn, anyone you talk to in Westeros is going to give you that feeling.]

The one and the same. And you are her paramour. [Which had all sorts of levels in Tyrion's throat. 'Good to meet you', 'you seem like an honorable chap', 'if you hurt her i will cut you into small pieces and eject them one by one into space.']

It is a pleasure to meet you as well. [Is what he says next, however.] So Winn, what shall you be teaching us?

[ actually it's looking more like everyone he talks to period is giving him that feeling.

either that, or scare the shit out of him, one or the other.

or both. it's very confusing when it's both.

paramour. it sounds creepy. though not as bad as lover. or is it? you know what, he's just going to focus on the warm fuzzy feeling he gets at having been introduced as something other than 'friend', even though they've clearly gone way past it a long time ago. or not actually that long. they just move so fast it sometimes feels like they should be celebrating their anniversary soon.

sorry tyrion, if he hurts her there will be a line for his head, and every single person on it will leave disappointed cuz he's at the top of that line and he has the fastest access to himself. ]

I'm her boyfriend, yeah. [ he nods with a smile that's equal parts amazed, grateful, and hoping he's allowed to say that particularly on a public network. it's not like they're being in any way discreet, but...feelings are complicated. ]

I was thinking of starting out with the internet, since a couple people showed interest [ hank showed interest, winn, and he doesn't count - he's as big a nerd as you are. ] and it's hurting my soul that people don't know about it. [ it might be kinder to leave them in the dark, since the network they've got here is a very poor substitute, but without getting to experience it for themselves tales of the internet can be as exciting as adventure stories are to him. at least, it would be for him as a listener. ] Have you heard about it?

[Well ... if you had to give this ship it's due, it knew where to find the most broken of people. Or at least those who needed their help most.

Still, kidnapping was kidnapping. Whomever the victim.

Winn, your willingness to hurt yourself for hurting Kitty will have Tyrion's respect. He might even show it when he's sinking that blade into your flesh.]

Boyfriend ... what an odd word ...

[He shook his head a little, before his mis-matched eyes sparked interest.] I have read some - mostly an information carrying system, from one end of the world to the other, at the speed of a fox after it's prey. However I am lost on some of the finer details - for example, what is a 'meme' and why is it so important?

[ it'd be nice, if they were all brought here to be helped, but somehow he doubts that was the purpose. he's definitely growing stronger here, and meeting kitty has changed his life -- but that's turning lemons into lemonade.

as far as winn is concerned, anyone who intentionally hurts kitty has to be a monster - after everything she's been through he's trying his hardest to minimize any possible source of unintentional hurt as well. if he ever turns into the kind of person who doesn't think so - then he has lost his mind and he's already seen what his future looks like if that's the case. death by sword is a far lesser evil than turning into his father. ]

Cultural differences, [ he shrugs ] no one says 'paramour' where I'm from anymore.

[ ohh -- now there's a good question to test his abilities as a lecturer. he thinks for a moment before diving into the explanation. ]

Memes are ideas that resonate with people - it can be an image, a video, a song, a phrase, anything, really - that just like... [ the explanation is now accompanied with hand gesturing illustrations. ] spreads like a virus. Since most people understand it, they tend to share it, sometimes as is, sometimes expending on it, giving it their own twist. It can be as innocent as a way to like display your wit and sense of humor or as powerful as a protest. For example a popular meme is 'That moment when' - and each person inserts a moment that's amusingly strange but still relate-able. So here it could be something like 'That moment when you lose your keys and your first thought's 'I got memory wiped''.

[Tyrion would have to agree - while this place is a far cry above and beyond the torture of living in Westeros ... he has been taken against his will for even more nefarious purposes. He's not fool enough to think this is for the betterment of themselves.

People like Kitty ... they deserved the best. People like Lily, and Sansa, and Margaery and so many others that he had met here. Even Nova and his dear Captain - they were all broken, and they all deserved better. He just hoped he could be part of the solution, and not the ongoing problem.]

Do they not? How ... disappointing. Boyfriend sounds so banal...

[He steeples his fingers together, looking at Winn with narrowed and thoughtful mis-matched eyes.]

I see ... so it is using a picture with a simple phrase to, say, state something in a witty yet obvious way, so people will understand you are making fun of yourself - or them.

[ they have much in common, it seems. ]

Yeah, titles for...the person you're with, are generally kinda weird.

[ lover and paramour are creepy, but boyfriend and girlfriend sound almost childish. there really isn't a good word out there for what they are, not one that doesn't feel like way too much way too soon. ]

Sometimes - yes, it's the most common use of it, anyway. Humor tends to help spread it around - even if they didn't come up with it, people get some kinda credit for finding something witty and sharing it, so the more people you make laugh with your meme the more exposure it's gonna get. Another way to use it is say there's someone on the fleet who doesn't get paid a whole lot cuz their ratings are low and you wanna call attention to it cuz you think they're great and there's no reason for it - so you can say, put their face on the bodies of so called "famous" fleet members and caption it 'why not - ' whatever their name is.

[Which was probably why Kitty liked them both so much.

Winn, luckily, wasn't nearly as bitter. Tyrion hoped he could stay that way.]

I could not agree more. Perhaps just sticking with beloved? That seems at least sincere.

[Boyfriend sounded like he was really just a friend who happened to have a cock. Not the connection Tyrion thought the man wanted to make.]

Ah-hah! [Tyrion snapped his fingers.] So it is a form of recognition, as well. It would garner you the popular vote of the masses, simply by showing off your prowess with clever wordplay. Well, apparently I should be making memes.

[ winn very much tries to stir clear of his own bitterness. some days it works, some days not so much. at least it hasn't been a major problem since his abduction.

beloved. it's better than lover or paramour, for sure, because he absolutely loves kitty. but it also feels like parading the private parts of their relationship for the world to see (shh, ignore that they're possibly on an intergalactic reality show, winn sure it trying to!). why are labels so hard? ]

Definitely a better fit than 'paramour'.

[ he nods. ]

Pretty much most things are -- but yeah, go for it! Space abductions are about as memeable as it gets -

[ he'll definitely feel more at home with memes flooding his timeline. ]

[Well at least he is trying. Tyrion likes to simmer in his. Let it marinate to a fine simmer.

Somewhere, there is a better balance of phrases. Tyrion himself would be cocky as hell if he managed to find a woman who wanted to put up with him for more than an hour in a romantic fashion. Count your blessings, Winn.]

Interesting ... do you have some I might research? I wish to start off strong, after all.

[For it will give him another project outside of his engineering duties, building weapons, reading everything he can get his hands on, and of course working on his greenhouse project.

...Tyrion needs distraction like he needs wine and whores. Since he's lacking in one and avoiding the other, he'll take distraction.]

[ he is trying his hardest. it doesn't always work, but he doesn't give up for what that's worth?

oh, he absolutely knows how lucky he is. apparently, back home, he's given up that happening badly enough to fall in with a banshee who tried to kill his best friend - finding kitty is nothing short of a miracle to him. ]

Wish I did, but this place has no internet. We can try to come up with some together though, if you want?

[ winn knows all about finding projects to keep himself busy. he has about a 100 going at this point, all trying to distract him from everything from his fear of heights to his fear of falling into insanity - to his guilt over not being able to get kara home yet. ]

[Well, it is that sort of attitude that will mark him as an optimist.

Tyrion understands. He's given up so much that he refuses to have any women at all. Finding someone like Kitty would require a score of miracles.]

I would delight in that. I do like broadening my scope.

[So ... two obsessive personalities have found one another to build entire new worlds together. Now that is going to build interesting things, wasn't it.]

[ he certainly tries to be guilty of that!

winn points at the screen with a smile. ]

My kinda guy. Anytime you feel like it, gimme a call.

[ at the very least it's going to give kitty headaches as she has to drag her boyfriend from yet another obsessive project. ]

[Tyrion would envy him that - if being optimistic had ever done anything good for him. Which, it had not.

He cannot help but smile back, though.]

[He dipped his head into a bow. Obsessive projects were his specialty these days.]

[ well, national city may be under constant threat of alien attack, but westeros it ain't. ]

[ ok - he'll mirror the gesture. obsessive projects are so much his specialty his friends may be considering an intervention. he can't seem to go through a whole conversation without picking another one up. ]
