[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]

Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]

Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!

So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

Just the moon...before this it was a space station! It was huge and there were aliens everywhere.

Well I mean, there are aliens everywhere here too - anyone who wasn't born on earth is an alien to us, and we're aliens to them -

But I take it you mean more obvious looking aliens?

Extra arms and weird faces, yup. They didn't like me much. [ Probably because he was eating raw meat in public but there you go. ]

Oh I totally get it - was it like - symmetric extra arms? Did they come out from the sides or was it like - random extra back arm or something?

Or or...! Which mouth do they eat with, and how do they do it sideways?? How do you see with twelve eyes??

Do you see the same from every eye - or does each see in a different way like - x-ray eye, red spectrum eye -

So - light is electromagnetic radiation, but most of it we can't see, because of the physical limitations of our eyes. The part we do see is called 'visible light', but it's not just -- one type of radiation, we see a small spectrum, ranging from purple to red.

Ok - [ he smiles ] you want me to explain again or drop the subject? Either way's fine.

[ he always wants to learn, but one of the things he's learned is that that passion isn't always shared and his explanations aren't always appreciated. ]

'course not. Questions are great - stop me anytime you don't understand something. OK, so - light acts like a wave - waves aren't cohesive units - think about a wave in the ocean - bits of it spatter and scatter along the way, right? Because the different drops all have different wavelengths - they don't all make it to shore. Light's the same way - there's a spectrum of wavelengths, and the ones we see are divided by color.

Cohesive is like -- tightly knit?

[ he sticks his fingers together, and makes them act out a wave ] cohesive form - [ separating his fingers, vibrating each at a different frequency to a random beat in his head ] what a wave actually acts like.

So...cohesive is like a sweater, and waves are just yarn and stuff? [ That is te best comparison he can make here, he's sorry Winn. THE PAST IS HARD. ]

I think my lecture will probably be pretty confusing for you, but we can have a one-on-one version, if you want. [ he may regret this, only not really, teaching someone who wants to learn is important! ]
