Who: Winn
Broadcast: Fleetwide video
Action: the Tourist
When: now!
[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]
Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]
Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!
So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

You're born with it. Some people have magical parents, so they're raised knowing about the world and with the expectation that they'll learn one day, too, but some people have parents that aren't magical - like me. I only found out when I was eleven and the headmaster came to talk to us. Everyone gets to learn, no matter what.
[ Despite what some prejudiced people might think. There were purebloods in the world that thought she had stolen her magic, that she was undeserving, that she should be punished, somehow, for having dirty blood - but she didn't care anymore. She had proven herself time and time again and it's been years since she last heard a whisper of it. ]
My shard? No, Atroma took it away from me. [ And she doesn't sound particularly happy about it. ]
video.
[ it kind of sounds like mutation by another name, but if that's the case than everyone should have different abilities, right? excuse him but as awesome as he thinks magic is (there are no words to how awesome he thinks it is) he still needs to at least look for a scientific explanation for it. magic is science that just hasn't been figured out yet, and all!
man, when he was 11 all he found out was that his parents are crazy and that he wasn't really their world. finding out he has powers would have been such a pick-me-up. not fair.
he frowns at that last part. so the atroma doesn't just operate on their brains. he wants to know more, so much more, but online is probably not the place to go for it. ]
I'm sorry. [ and he is. atroma took so many important things from people, including his sense of worth. ] Hey, if you ever wanna talk more about it -- I'm on the Tourist.

[ Hermione can, at least, understand the search for logic; she understands that it's not as easy as just accepting things for what they were and dealing with it like that. It's not that simple, and she gets it - she had suffered the same as she was growing up. It's hard, especially when magic is entirely new, but she's used to it - she can't make everyone understand the way she does.
The apology makes her pause and her eyes scan his features before she shakes her head, managing a soft, small smile. It's sore, and it's a wound that won't ever really close, but - it's still something. Something that reminds her she has a home to go back to. ]
It's alright. I'd like to think my shard is waiting for me at home. [ And if not then maybe she won't even remember the Drabwurld at all. ] I'm on the Vanquish if you ever want to stretch your legs.
video.
winn knows open wounds all too well, and the search for a way back is one he engages in with an obsessive desperation. getting on the shuttles is never a thing he looks forward to, but if a more private conversation with her will give him even the barest of clues - it'll be worth it. besides, for the first time in his life? he's successfully making friends with most people he talks to. that's not a streak he wants to ignore. ]
The Vanquish? Never been there yet, when's a good time?
video.
[ Hermione isn't judging him, not at all, and she says it all with a nod of her head. She's doing her best to work through things and try not to dwell on her own personal upset and suffering, but it's not exactly easy. She's alone more often than she isn't simply because it's easier, sometimes, and her heart is a little thick and heavy in her throat before she swallows it down and continues. ]
I'm free almost all the time, so whenever you'd like, Winn.

[ shaking his head a little. it's true, but he's trying to make it come off as more of a joke, because he's getting the feeling that he's pushing at sore spots and that's really not what he's about.
he understands being alone, he understands staying alone because it's easier - it's been his life for...most of it. but here, now, somehow he's surrounded himself with people to care about - people who care about him in return. and it's an amazing feeling, one he's eager to spread.
he's quite the opposite - he always has work to do, on about a thousand different projects. most of the time he doesn't spend working on it (and some of the time he does) is spent with his friends and his girlfriend, leaving him with actually very little free time. but he will clear it. ]
Thanks, Hermione. I'll - definitely take you up on it.
video.
[ And that was before she had found herself in the Drabwurld, because there it had been even worse.
Hermione is careful with how much of her own emotions she reveals to others, if only because she doesn't want anyone to think there's some kind of obligation to take care of her or support her. She does it for her friends because it's something that she knows is important, but sharing her own worries and fears is another matter entirely. She can't really do it, and it's a struggle to come to terms with people that do care about her and do want to see her happier and free of the burdens she places on herself.
It gets harder, really, each day she's away from the Drabwurld, but at least she's trying. ]
My door is always open - especially if you want to see some magic.
video.
[ are you regretting your life choices yet, hermione? because he wouldn't blame you if you are.
it's a trait they somewhat share - he can share his worries if it eases someone else's or if he's directly asked about them, but the rest of the time, sometimes consciously sometimes less, he assumes nobody wants to hear it. ]
I so do! Yes, 1000% here for the magic demonstrations!!
