[ last time he posted anything, he was a nervous wreck and kind of nauseous. the changes the past two months have left in him are impossible to miss; winn is smiling, upbeat, and almost comfortable. the nervous energy that is there has more to do with his addressing a bunch of strangers than the constant fear of death by space-stuff that overshadowed his first feed. ]

Hi, if we don't know each other - I'm Winn Schott. If we do know each other...I'm still Winn Schott - [ shaking his head, why hasn't he learned from the last time? prepare a script! ]

Anyway! I've been here for a couple months now, and it's been interesting - and I mean that in the original sense of the word. Think about it - not only are we in outer space [ there's only a slight wince at that, and even a lot of excitement. space is terrifying - but it's also really cool ] - but we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reach across the multiverse and learn things that haven't even been dreamed up in our worlds yet. I've been learning - a ton from just casually talking to people, but there is a much better way to do this if we all cooperate, [ open source. it's the way of the future! ] and I know I'm not the only one out there who's interested!

So, I've got a suggestion for anyone who thinks that's really cool - and - pity for anyone who doesn't [ and by pity, he means judgment. he gestures excitedly with his hands as he introduces his brilliant concept ] - 2016: A Space-Time Odyssey - a series of free weekly lectures about anything and everything we've got here. Talks about different worlds, science, history, art lessons, concerts - I know we've got some musicians here - basically anything anyone signs up to talk about, teach, perform, or however you communicate things where you're from. Since we don't have a lecture hall we can broadcast the talks - give ourselves a fun routine....and if that doesn't work for someone, I can post the notes I'm so gonna take of all of these. Who's in? Who wants to go first?

[ ok so he made one suit but it was a totally badass suit! kara loves it! ]

The suit's gotta work for you, or it's worthless no matter how cool it looks. It's a uniform, I know that.

[ everything he puts into it has to help her. useless additions are barely tolerable - so ones that get in her way? no way. he's not putting her in danger over an outfit. ]

Oh! And...no masks, please. [ ... ] I don't do masks. Sunglasses are okay -- but definitely no masks.

Glasses really are a better identity concealer than people give them credit for.

[ shaking his head. it works unbelievably well for kara and clark. clark. it will never stop being cool to him to know that! maybe one day he could actually meet the guy, too! ]

Right? I'll take aviators over a mask. Any day. My old look had a mask -- borrowed, technically, from another hero. But I don't really care to go back to masks.

Those look pretty badass -

[ but, would be kind of useless and even problematic in a sunless environment. unless they're high-tech aviators -- which they could be if he gets cisco on it - ]

But I'm thinking regular ones are just gonna hamper your vision around here -

[ CURIOUS: ] So, what do you have in mind for irregular ones?

Well, [ he clears his throat. ] where do you stand on wearable computers?

[ though for that - he'd definitely have to consult cisco. a lot. ]

I'm always first in line for the latest Stark wearables, back home. [ or her money is, at least. it's good to be part of a well-known manhattanite family. it has its perks. ]

And I approve of them, I suppose. In theory. But the last thing I need is some kinda HUD crowding what I'm seeing. Could it be kept discreet?

I'll have to talk it over with Cisco, with - your ok, of course - but I don't see why not.

Sorry, Winn. [ her smile is bright, but (for once) a little self-conscious. ] I must sound like an actual luddite.

[ blame clint. he's always embraced the paleolithic nature of the skill-set, and that's rubbed off on kate over time. she never truly witnessed the days of his skycycle. ]

Cuz you want minimized display right in your face? I think that's common sense --

[ and also the wave of the future. he never got how people in movies got away with reading whole messages in their glasses - it's damn distracting and pretty obvious. ]

Unless that sorry is about not being able to work with Cisco cuz in that case you're a spoil-sport. [ come on, if they ask him to work on the hearing aid they gotta complete the set and sic him on the glasses! ] I was thinking less target display you obviously don't need - [ what with her sick aim and all ] and more - adjustable lighting. Maybe heat signature detection?

[ kate continues to smile -- waggling a hand as though to fend off his concerns. ] No, no, I will definitely work with Cisco. I like Cisco. I am very pro-Cisco.

It'd be awkward if you weren't, cuz we're practically each other's alternates.

[ he returns the smile now, so psyched that he gets to have his bro in on this. this project was always awesome, but even awesome things are a little sad when you can't share your excitement over them with someone who gets exactly how awesome they are, ok. ]

That mean you like my idea?

I do. [ but she holds up a finger. ] Just...lemme try and tell Cisco, first. Not about the project but about me being Hawkeye. I think he should find out from me.

[ holding his hands up in surrender ]

You got it. Just. Tell me when it's safe to fanboy.

[ he's going to keep smiling and pretend he didn't say that last part out loud. ]

I don't think it counts as being a fan when you're my friend, y'know.

[ oh, right in the feelings, kate. his smile softens. ]

I'm really good at multitasking.

[ he's kara's biggest fan, and he's kitty's, too. he's cisco's, he's jim's, he's margaery's - to him, that's actually part of the friend job description.

it's just that kate he would've been a fan of even if they weren't friends. ]

I'm sure you are. But -- let it just be said that it's your friendship I really appreciate, Winn. And your skills. I appreciate your skills, too. But those things come way before anything else.

[ this warmth sort of spreads inside of him and he can't really stop smiling. it's so awkward, and yet so wonderful all at once and he's not sure what to do about it. ]

Right back atcha. [ that she's a superhero is awesome - but just like with kara, he's liked kate long before he knew about what she could do, what she does. her friendship is a treasure to him, it's one of his favorite things about the fleet experience. it kills him inside to think that a happy ending would mean being separated from all these people he's grown so attached to.

can't everyone just come to national city with him? ]

[ she smiles -- effusive, it seems, and effortless in her friendship. kate enters these associations all-in, and although it takes something more akin to a military tank to actually scorch her feelings -- it also takes equal force to shake her loyalty once it's been won. but the moment passes, her cheeks puff, and: ]

So what will I owe you? I don't want you buying the supplies on your own dime.

[ he brushes it off ]

Don't worry about it, I got plenty. [ he shrugs ] Apparently I'm entertaining to watch. Who knew.

[ he's trying not to think of the intergalactic sex tapes that are probably making him so popular - so he sinks into writing down the rest of her measurements. ]

Plenty? [ don't be offended, winn. but you? plenty? but you're so delightfully NORMAL and not, for example, a fire-bending psycho. or a claw-popping loose cannon. ] Gee, what've you been doing? Getting into fist-fights on the side or something?

[ the idea of an intergalactic sex tape simply has yet to occur to her at all. mostly because she would (herself) rather go toe-to-toe with wolverine again than willingly broadcast that portion of her life.

that is, had that portion of her life even been in existence. currently. ]

[ there's nothing willing about it, except for the fact that he's just not willing to keep his hands off kitty for the sake of their privacy. it's surprisingly easy to forget they're being watched, especially when she's kissing him.

he shouldn't be offended, because well, he feels the same way, but since when are feelings logical? his smile is a little tight, uncomfortable, as he rubs the back of his neck. ]

No, uh, the other thing that sells.

[ they're probably being watched because people want to see kitty - who would want to see him like that, right? - another thing he tries not to think about. the thought of horny aliens watching his girlfriend is...he needs a drink. and some serious anger management. ]

[ kate kinda just stares. ]
