Having someone else — someone more reliable than him — keep an eye out for Angharad is good, too. It's certainly giving her better odds than with the likes of him, no matter how much he'll focus on the task. Three pairs of eyes, better.]

[He wonders, only briefly, if he should tell Peggy more. But that's all Angharad's business; it's not his to divulge. So all he can do is show in his own way that she matters a great deal to him. More than he'd like. It's hard to explain it, but Max feels responsible. Feels like he once again failed to protect a mother and her child. It repeats, god it does, and he wonders briefly if it's some higher power punishing him for his weakness.

He glances away. Despite coming to her and finally talking, he still seems... anxious. Like the walls are going to consume him, drag him in.]

having taken certain measure of max's maze-like character, it's enough to know he feels compelled to ask for her help in this task. it's enough to know he would, indeed, trust her with something that may very well be precious to him. she taps her fingers along her elbow. ]

I'll find a reason to visit. Shouldn't be so difficult.

[A nod. He trusts Peggy to be watchful, helpful, friendly. Not too smothering. And he feels like... perhaps, from what he's seen of Angharad, they would have surprisingly similar tastes. Or at the very least, Peggy reminds him faintly of Angharad, with their shared determination and stubbornness and no-sense demeanor.]

Don't even know if she... Hmmm... Likes me all that much.

[The anxious look is a bit more humorous, as he tries to find a nice way to put it.]

Duly noted, but -- [ she allows for the smallest of smiles. ] But I promise I can find it in my heart to give her all the help she might want despite her possible distaste for you.

[ she knows that's not what max had been trying to explore with that statement. but it's so silly -- she can't help but underline how very much she doesn't care about what others think. max's value must come from max himself, and not what others read him to be.
