Who: Tyrion Lannister
Broadcast: The whole Fleet
Action: Accidental video
When: Today

[If anyone ever had a doubt that Tyrion Lannister likes to keep himself occupied, today would be the day that he put all doubts to rest. His fingers flick against the side of his camera as he is reaching for a book. Which is good, because he's got three open now. He frowns at one paragraph, then pushes off with his chair - with wheels, fascinating things these.

Then he was picking up a screwdriver, turning to a tank that looked a great deal like the displays at the Green Museum, twisting a brace into place, eying it, then rolling back across the floor to check on the panels for the engine. He picked up a clipboard, put down the screwdriver and exchanged it for pencil while he marked off a few things on a list, then pushed himself off to roll back to his desk, where he flipped a page on his second book, muttering quietly to himself.]

'This means that the center of mass of the arrow–where gravity acts–is further forward than the center of pressure–where aerodynamic forces act. This results in the aerodynamic forces helping to stabilize the flight of the arrow.'

[He tapped the page, then pushed off again to his work-table, where a variety of weapons were lying on the surface, and plucked up the bow.] Yes, all right, that means I just need to change the density of the string and curve the bow a little more for the right amount of pressure per inch... good, good.

[He hummed as he put the bow back down, and reached underneath for his toolbox, singing softly to himself as he went through the varying strings he had gathered for said bow.]

I'm malicious, mean and scary
My sneer could curdle dairy
And violence-wise, my hands are not the cleanest
But despite my evil look
And my temper and my hook
I've always yearned to be a concert pianist
Can't you see me on the stage performin' Mozart
Ticklin' the ivories 'til they gleam?
Yep, I'd rather be called deadly
For my killer show tune medley
Thank you, 'cause way down deep inside I've got a dream

[Clearly, Tyrion is something of a workaholic, when he gets himself going.]

[She'll just put up the History of Japan video and walk out tbh.] I suppose... It might be fun to talk about my country a little... [She knows a lot of mythology now, it'd be fun to share some superstitions and things at least.] I don't know where I'd begin though. It's not something you really think about too much.

[But it's a token sort of waffling on it, she's definitely interested. But here's something she can talk about-- language!] Yes, I suppose it's a little strange to others... Where I'm from, we give our family names first before our given names. In the West it's done in reverse-- Your given name is 'Tyrion' and your family name is 'Lannister,' right?

[And since he didn't know that she has a feeling he won't know 'san' either, so she'll elaborate further.] My language also uses honorifics a lot. '-san' is... I suppose it's like saying 'Mr.' or 'Ms.' or something like that. It's just polite to use someone's family name and '-san,' unless you're close. There's a whole... [What's the word she wants to use here?] Etiquette? To it. Honorifics for different people at different stages of a relationship sort of thing.

[LANGUAGE IS FUN.]

[Yuri hesitates again, but there's no more reluctance.] ...Mm. Yeah. That might be... fun. [When's the last time she could honestly say she was having fun with something? And while not a hard 'yes,' she'll totally be there. She just has to start collecting legends and stuff now.

She nods along
] A little, yes. For 'Master' I would probably use '-sama'-- or maybe '-dono,' but no one typically uses that one anymore, it's a little old-fashioned. [She considers his question, picking it through in her head. It's all a little complicated and relies on a lot of different factors, but she'll summarize as best she can]

After we talk a few times, it'd probably be 'Tyrion-san.' You're older than me, so it wouldn't be respectful to refer to you as much else... If you were my age or younger, I might use '-kun,' or '-chan if you were a child or a girl. When you're older, you can get away with being more informal towards the younger ones.

If we were very close, I could drop the honorifics all together, but even married couples might still use '-san' to refer to each other... Mm, but, since you're not Japanese, it wouldn't be as impolite or strange to drop it, if you wanted me to. [She trails off thoughtfully and looks a tad sheepish] I suppose it's a little complicated when trying to explain it all out.

[And since he mentioned something curious to her, she adds a question of her own:] What did you mean by 'House'?

[There's a hint of a smile.] You can get away with a lot that would be considering impolite or even flatout rude if you're not one of us. You should take advantage when you can. [But she'll take that advice and do her best to remember.

She pauses a moment, taking the implications of all that.
] So.. .you are nobility? I wouldn't have-- [expected that, she almost says, and then abruptly cuts herself off with an embarrassed cough.]

Not that you don't seem-- I simply meant-- I didn't expect them to kidnap people of actual value.
