[ The video starts with Charles sitting on his wheelchair, his hands neatly folded on his lap. He rubs faint circles on his legs for a few seconds, the only real sign of tension. ]

Hello. My names is Charles Xavier. I am a geneticist graduated from Oxford. I -- [ ran ] -- run a school in Westchester for the Gifted. Mutants. People with abilities. My focus is the training and control of abilities we do not always fully understand, abilities that are gifts but can often run amok.

[ He pauses, catching his second wind before continuing on, poised. ]

I am also a telepath with a full set of abilities in aiding the mind and extremely . . . proficient. I do not read minds without permission, because honestly, I really don't care.

[ Charles pauses again, wondering if he should say more and dismisses it. People can ask him if they need details - which they will. ]

If anyone would like to make use of my abilities and skills, they are certainly most welcome to. Confidentiality, of course, is key and you need not make anything public if you do not wish to. If you have any questions for me, the floor is open for you.

Surely other species would have certain abilities.

Sure. A lot of them have unique specializations. But they're characteristic to the species, not an individual. And their scope is nothing to what I've seen around here.

Technically, mutants are a species as well. We simply vary in our abilities.

[archaeotechnician]

Yes. [ as if elucidating an obvious point: ] It's important that both parties agree on what subject they're going to be discussing. Otherwise we might as well be talking different languages. Like I'm getting the feeling that we are.

[archaeotechnician]

[ cheerfully, ] Hi. I'm Doctor Aphra. I've never heard of mutants until now so I doubt we're from the same corner of the galaxy. I also don't have a protocol droid with me so, if I cross a line at some point, sorry. Just let me know when. Would it be okay if I asked some questions?

[axiomed]

[ Hm. ]

I'm from Earth. Like the majority of people here.

[archaeotechnician]

I've noticed. [ her curiosity is palpable. what makes the most unoriginally named rock in the universe so special? aside from what looks like a high ratio of the odd and the talking cannons taking up residence on it. ]

What's it like?

Earth?

[ He pauses, deliberating. ]

Nothing special, I assume. A blue planet, with lots of water. It has deserts, tundras, tropical rainforests. Very rich in flora and fauna. Of course, mankind is the largest species there by far.

[archaeotechnician]

[ earth is not a single biome planet?

that sounds fake but ok. ]

It has to be something special. A lot of people hailing from it. Ratio's all but skewed in your favor.

[axiomed]

Not mine in particular, but I honestly couldn't say. No one in my time period has traveled so far as our moon.

[archaeotechnician]

[ she whistles. ]

For some of us. Not everyone. The other mutants come from different time periods, other timelines.
