Who: Eris & anyone!
Broadcast: N/A
Action: e v e r y w h e r e
When: after that glorious shuffle

[ It's another glorious day in the mortal realm, or as close to it as one can get when they're adrift in space. And you know what? Eris isn't even bothered that she's been summoned there despite the impossibility of it all. The fleet is just teeming with all sort of calamitous potential. So many people at odds with themselves, riddled with guilt or greed or doubt.

Pawns ripe for her to manipulate and lead to their untimely destruction.

Now that she's no longer confined to the Marsiva Eris can move about freely as she pleases, drifting from ship to ship with a mere thought. The Huntress, Tourist, Red Fish, Blue Fish...any ship is fair game to her and so is anyone. So the big question is...what exactly is your character doing? ]

[ ooc; if you haven't seen or filled it out, here is her permissions! Eris will be creeping and/or flirting on your character like hella if you tag in, be warned. ]

[ Charles grips the arm-rests again, white knuckled. He can't move. He can't leave. Essentially, he's quite trapped and he knows it, trapped with the kind of creatures he had feared and despised for months on end. ]

Nothing gets inside my head.
axiomed: (Remind me of how I used to feel)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-21 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
It'd be too easy for you.

[ He knows this pattern. ] It wouldn't be a game if you just overwhelmed me with your power.
axiomed: (I give my everything)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-21 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shrugs, self-depreciative. He doesn't like the idea of Kyriakos and the library being useful, but he'll take it, if only to survive encounters like these. ]

So the real question here is. What kind of game are you playing and where do I factor in it?
axiomed: (And we really cared)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-21 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Then I suppose I'd have a hard time playing.

Also, get off my lap.
axiomed: (I'm damned to feel the way I do)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-21 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ I HATE OMNIPOTENT CREATURES.

It takes him a couple of minutes to breathe normally - she was so close and he couldn't move - before he ruthlessly suppresses the feelings.

And go back to reading his book. ]
grandstanding: (I can hear you.)

[When the lights went off, Erik had been in the engine room, and it was only the glow of that fiery machine that kept it from plunging into total darkness at first. He had frozen, cursed, then saw the emergency lighting flicker on. That was better. Nothing had been amiss in there, so he ran into the corridor. The light had returned not a few steps later.

Wary and frustrated, he glared up at the fixtures that had no apparent problems. Then he followed his natural inclination and went to Charles's room first. He doesn't bother knocking, just throws the door open.]

Did the lights go off in here?

[ Charles starts, before he relaxes immensely at seeing Erik. ]

Oh -- Yes. They did.
grandstanding: (Never one to give a second chance)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
[He scowls, looking up at them again.] I can't figure out what happened. [Which is grating, given this is meant to be his 'job'.] A power surge up here could be fatal.

You're all right?
axiomed: (Feeling sorry is your favourite feeling)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ No, he's not. He's not because there was something so powerful so close and he can't even get up and walk away -- ]

I'm fine. For . . . the most part.
grandstanding: (Go; get your ribbon box)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
[The tone draws Erik's gaze back to Charles's face. That isn't the look of someone who's fine. He's seen that shaky mask before, as recently as this week. Closing the door behind him, he crosses to where Charles is sitting and places his hand on the book, lowering it. He holds Charles's gaze, his own searching.]

What happened?
axiomed: (They still cling to the wall)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ Charles worries his lip before speaking. ]

It -- She is a Goddess. She came to talk to me again.
grandstanding: (Running in circles.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't have to ask who he means. The one who'd bothered him yesterday. Erik's expression turns slightly harder, but it's inside where his anger starts to boil. This kind of interfering behaviour isn't good. To rattle Charles to this extent makes it serious, and he's of half a mind to figure out which ship she's on and--]
axiomed: (Love needles in the hay)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
[ No, Erik, he steps in quickly, worry flashing through his mind. She's powerful. She came here without warning, without a shuttle.

He doesn't soothe away Erik's anger, but he lingers as he puts his thoughts into proper words, She's fascinated with my power. ]
grandstanding: (We had it all back then.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Fascinated. It turns his stomach to lead, because he's been the subject of the fascination of higher beings before, and he'd only ended up torn open on a table for it. He won't let the same thing happen to Charles. He won't.

A violent hiss escapes him.]
axiomed: (I forgot how to cry)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shakes his head, reaching to touch Erik's arms.

Nothing's going to happen. ]
grandstanding: (Taking it's toll)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Something already did, he fires back, biting. But the touch stills him somewhat, brings him back to the here and now instead of his darker thoughts.]
axiomed: (What turns we missed)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ It was just words. Threats. It surprised me. It won't happen again.

He rubs Erik's arms lightly, and it won't be that easy.

Charles won't remain jumpy. He wasn't expecting it but now he has a firmer understanding. ]
grandstanding: (You won't stand in my way)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
[It abruptly frustrates him to be bearing down on Charles from above like this. He twists and seats himself on the bed, without breaking Charles's grip on him. Easy enough to do these rooms are only just small enough to fit the chair in alongside the bed.

I don't like it. If it were verbal, it would be some kind of grim mutter through his teeth, but in the mind it's clear as day. Gods. He detests them, and deeper than that, he's fearful. He knows what they can do.]
axiomed: (When I met you)

[personal profile] axiomed 2016-05-22 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ There's something uplifting about being in touch with someone else's feelings and Charles knows why. It's easier to feel through others than think about his own. He's always afraid of his own feelings, afraid of what dark corners it might lead him to. In a way, what happened after Cuba was the tip of the iceberg. He's known vengeance. Anger. A need to burn the world down.

Neither do I, he replies. If it had been Erik, Charles wouldn't have been so calm right now. But in a way, he was. If it had happened to Erik, Charles wouldn't know what would have happened.

( and what had happened was too much )

Would this have happened if he never made that announcement? He couldn't say. It was in the past now.

Stay with me. We'll look after each other.

The message was simple: We're not losing each other to this. ]
grandstanding: (Is will I die today?)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-22 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He bites back an idiotic urge to growl, and thrusts his anger away to deal with later. It can wait.

Instead, he grips Charles's hands in his own. Obviously we will.]
