Toothpaste has a chemical called flouride in it, which is good for your teeth, but it can be poisonous in large doses, so they still have to put the warning on there. I promise, though, the amount you swallowed is not going to hurt you.
It'd take several tubes of toothpaste before there was lasting damage, but anything more than the little bit you use for brushing might cause stomach aches or a rash.
