Tests have been run, data has been gathered, packaged, looked over, highlighted with all sorts of colored sharpies. There is only so much the data can prove. What's needed now is an actual investigation, getting the final clue to a puzzle that, Kirk thought, they were running very short of time on.

Which was how he ended up down on the surface of the toxic moon, in front of the nearest terraformer.

Time to go find some answers.

_{[ ooc: Since I didn't want to flood the comm, it can be assumed that Kirk announced he would be going to explore the terraformers and asked if anyone wanted to come and form an expedition party. So, if you want to come, feel free to jump in.

It's just... [He trails off. Fully distracted. It can't be. It just can't. He can't feel anything. That emptiness he's felt since being so far from his sisters is still there.

He takes a stride or two of his long legs before he realizes he didn't answer the question.]

This looks like what we have at home, but-- [Where is the Plant? Did she die?] --it's not the same.

[He can see the differences. Even while he's expecting the worst he can see the signs of change. There are different things in the place the Plant should have been.]

It does? What kind of something?

[She has a feeling it's not.... a GOOD something...]

One of our terraforming equipment. [Now that he's at the edge of the protective glass he reaches out and rests both of his hands on the smooth surface.]

Only, the-- power source. I can't-- it looks like it's missing.

[He shuts his eyes searching mentally. For any trace if a Plant was ever here.]

["Missing?" She almost ask that out loud but... then her instincts tell her it might be a good idea to wait a little for this.]

[Even if she did Vash more than likely would not have answered. Reaching out, but nothing reaches back. It doesn't completely confirm that there wasn't once a Plant here, but it does prove that this, despite its looks, is a very different model.

He opens his eyes and let's his hands drop.]

Its not the same. [Said out loud to encourage the positive thoughts creeping into his mind. A way to terraform without a Plant.]

[Okaaaaay that's... good? Pinkie's not sure, you've been acting too weird for her to be, buddy.]

[And Vash will realize he's being a weirdo in five... Four... Three... Two... One...]

Oh! [The concern and confusion nearly melts off of Vash's expression as his normal cheerful smile comes back onto his face.] Sorry, it just surprised me to see something that looked like it was from home here.

It did? What kind of something?

Well, our own terraformers, actually. My planet is nothing but dessert. Except around our terraformers. [Because his reaction was totally normal for someone who sees a terraformer that looks similar to another terraformer when exploring inside a terraformer.]

[Yyyyeah totally normal.]

Soooo were you... WORRIED they were here too?

Well. [He pauses for a moment. Never having been comfortable talking about the Plants as it tends to lead to having to think about himself. Which he has never liked doing.] Our terraformers are powered by living creatures, but it doesn't look like there are any here.

... Iiiii'm guessing you don't mean like a hamster wheel...

[SOMEBODY CHANGE THE SUBJECT, PLEASE!]

[Vash pictures that for a moment and then his smile becomes slightly less forced and he laughs gently.]

No, not at all like a hamster wheel. It's... well, it's complicated. Let's just say I'm glad it's not here.

[A solemn nod, and she's just gonna nuzzle her head against the side of his knee a bit.]

Me too then.

[For a moment Vash really wishes he was from a Planet that had talking ponies. What is proper pony etiquette? He's wanted to touch her hair-- mane? All day. It just looks so soft and curly.

He gives in. Tentatively reaching out to gently pat her head. Hoping he's not being extremely rude.]

Thanks. And there may be good news. If it really is like home I may be able to understand it all easier.

[Hey, it's fine. It's not like you can kneel down comfortably to nuzzle her back, so that works.]

Hee, yeah, that might help.

[It's even softer than he imagined!!]

There are so many smart people in this group. I'm sure we can get this place working again!

[SO SOFT even though it might be damp, it's probably either very warm or very cool down here and trekking for miles and miles is a lot of work.]

[Vash grins and pumps his fist.] Alright then! Let's get going! Like, let's get going right away and figure out what's going on in here! [He'll turn with gusto towards the computers.]
