Captain's Log 03 - Landing Party

Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone Who Wants to Come On an Expedition
Broadcast:No
Action: Yes - On the moon, in the Terraformers
When: Sometime this week

Tests have been run, data has been gathered, packaged, looked over, highlighted with all sorts of colored sharpies. There is only so much the data can prove. What's needed now is an actual investigation, getting the final clue to a puzzle that, Kirk thought, they were running very short of time on.

Which was how he ended up down on the surface of the toxic moon, in front of the nearest terraformer.

Time to go find some answers.

[ ooc: Since I didn't want to flood the comm, it can be assumed that Kirk announced he would be going to explore the terraformers and asked if anyone wanted to come and form an expedition party. So, if you want to come, feel free to jump in.

Also feel free to start your own side threads. I will put up some sections, but feel free to start your own as the group explores. The ultimate goal is just to gather information (but this is a Jim Kirk Expedition (TM), so something may very well go wrong!), so have fun!)

If you need help starting things or want a refresher, here is the original mod post. ]

[He just offers a friendly smile in return of his shieepish look]

Well, it is a pretty amazing structure. I'm a little impressed by it as well.

[he returns the smile, nodding his agreement]

I've never seen anything like it. There's nothing like this in my world at all.
save_the_souls: (ah yeah I left it....in the ark oops)

Mine neither.

Where are you from?

[personal profile] beathach 2016-05-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
New York, 1973. [a pause, and then he adds] Ah - on Earth, if you're not familiar.

What about you?

[He grins a little]

England, 1898.

I've been to New York though. Great city, I love the food.

It does have great food. [an important thing to figure out about any city] I can't say I've been to England - yet, I've wanted to go for a while.

If you don't mind rain, I'd recommend it. Though, I couldn't tell you what it's like in the 1970's.

Mm, no, I don't mind rain. We get it pretty often where I'm living. [with a straight face] So far, it's bad fashion choices and decent music. The food's still good, though.

Oh-?

[!!! It clicks, and he suddenly starts speaking very eagerly]

Oh, oh! That's right! You're in the decade when Queen is performing! [Amazing!!] Have you been to any of their concerts??
beathach: (24)

[personal profile] beathach 2016-06-02 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[oh no, oh no Allen don't ask Hank about pop culture]

I - am not sure if I know who Queen is. But I can safely say I've never been to a concert.
save_the_souls: (eheheh yeah I sorta...stabbed a guy)

[personal profile] save_the_souls 2016-06-02 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Sorry not sorry you mutant nerd]

Queen's a rock band! Arguably one of the greatest rock bands that'll ever exist in Earth's history! Their greatest hits album is on the network, if you want to listen to it!

[Thanks for that Crowley]

I'd love to see them perform live, but it's pretty unlikely I'll live that long. [He gives a small laugh as he rubs the back of his neck] What it being another 72 years before they even become a band for me and all.

[LISTEN HE KNOWS SOME THINGS . . . ]

I'll have to give them a listen. I like rock music every now and then. [he likes the Beatles, at least, that has to earn him some sort of points]

Well - maybe someone will be able to find a recording of one of their performances? Or - someone else here may have seen them in concert, too. I wouldn't say it's all that unlikely.
save_the_souls: (but that's none of my business)

[personal profile] save_the_souls 2016-06-05 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs]

Oh, I've already seen the recordings. The last place I had, had an immense library and I found some of their performances on DVD. [When you're stuck in panfandom hell for years, you kinda adapt to the tech] But I can't imagine it's the same as seeing it live for yourself.

But maybe you're right! Maybe there is someone whose been to a concert of theirs!

[personal profile] beathach 2016-06-06 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[ah, the siren call of "I've been somewhere else". He doesn't look all that surprised]

Really? The last place I had barely had a decent library, let alone recordings. [yeah, he's a lil jealous] But no - it's probably not the same.

[he nods] You'll just have to ask around. The 70s weren't - that long ago, and I'm sure they're popular even into the 80s. [little does he know]
