Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone Who Wants to Come On an Expedition

Action: Yes - On the moon, in the Terraformers
When: Sometime this week

Tests have been run, data has been gathered, packaged, looked over, highlighted with all sorts of colored sharpies. There is only so much the data can prove. What's needed now is an actual investigation, getting the final clue to a puzzle that, Kirk thought, they were running very short of time on.

Which was how he ended up down on the surface of the toxic moon, in front of the nearest terraformer.

Time to go find some answers.

_{[ ooc: Since I didn't want to flood the comm, it can be assumed that Kirk announced he would be going to explore the terraformers and asked if anyone wanted to come and form an expedition party. So, if you want to come, feel free to jump in.

Also feel free to start your own side threads. I will put up some sections, but feel free to start your own as the group explores. The ultimate goal is just to gather information (but this is a Jim Kirk Expedition (TM), so something may very well go wrong!), so have fun!)

"Ya know, when ya said 'hey, Remy, wanna do something physical', didn't really guess it was this." Ha ha, yes, he's so funny, his voice coming out muffled thanks to his own mask as he kept up with Kirk and the rest of the group. He didn't really mind the hike, it was good exercise and it was nice to get out of the ships, even if it was into a polluted atmosphere.

"You have to have a few surprises to keep a relationship exciting!" Kirk fired back. See? He can be funny too Remy!

Regardless of the sauciness of the exchange, he was glad to have the other there with them. He trusted the other, after all, and that was always important on these things. And if they needed anything exploded, well he would definitely come in handy wouldn't he? He fell back a little bit to walk beside him.

"You really are okay, right?" he asked softly.

Remy smiled behind his mask at Jim's real concern once their normal joking got out of the way, tilting his head in Kirk's direction and giving a bit of a shrug since he couldn't shoot an obvious wink towards him, his full face mask covering his eyes. "Yeah, 'm fine, cher. Been 'while since done a hike, before ya showed up here. Was on a snow planet 'nd friend 'nd I headed out to clear our heads a bit. Can't say my Southern blood liked it, but did get it pumpin'.

"Well, I would hope that we had been getting enough exercise together that this hike would prove no trouble," he teased him, shifting slightly to bump his shoulder to Remy's.

"I don't think it'll be much longer though. Or I hope not, anyways."

"Oh no, ya be far more trouble than any hike be, we both know that." There was a slight bump back with that, just to keep things fair.

"Hey, I just came 'long for the ride, no clue what ya'll really doin' once we get there, a bit beyond my expertise, short of there bein' a laser field or something we gotta get through. That could be fun." Been awhile since he had done that also. "Me 'nd cats, curious to find out what be goin' on."

"I take that as a compliment, Monseuir LeBeau," he chuckled.

"Well, don't jinx us now, we just might have that to get through. I have no idea what kind of security this thing has," he shook his head. He had tried to get as much information as he could from the natives, but he wasn't sure how accurate it was. "Will I need to hold your coat while you prove just how flexible you are to everyone else?" Because, well, he already knew now didn't he?

"Merci mon capitaine, ya say the sweetest things to me." This was delivered with a grin, even if it was lost thanks to the mask, before Remy gave a shrug. "Ya think this be the kinda thing they wanna keep people out of?"

"I'm not sure if it would be keeping out, so much as they might have planned for minimal maintenance, and restricted access. You wouldn't want just anyone wandering around the innards of these things and messing something up. Though it seems something went wrong anyways - perhaps. We won't really know until we get in there."

"Ya thinkin' machinery went faulty, or someone made it happen that way?" Not that Remy could really see why someone would want to do that, short of maybe a gas mask making company trying to cash in on it all. It didn't make a lot of sense to him, but then again he hadn't delved into the 'whys' behind this all too much, more just enjoying the chance to stretch his legs on the Fleets stop over.

He shrugged. "I can't really say. I don't feel it makes sense for a company to purposely sabotage something like this, but then, I thought that about a Star Fleet admiral before, and I was wrong." He looked to Remy. "I don't know that we'll ever understand the reasoning - and if we ever do it'll be after we get in here."

"'nd guess that ain't the real problem right now, hein? More the case seein' if can fix the damn thing, or get in there so they can send someone in to fix it. Worry 'bout the 'why' behind it all later 'nd focus on the 'how' now." Plus there was a major chance the fleet would be long gone before any real investigation got started, even if they did find something in there to point the finger at someone. They were just visitors, they got to see a snapshot of what life was like at a location, not have to live through it.

He nodded and gave Remy a grateful smile. If they had longer, he would have wanted to get to the proper bottom of all of this, but that just wasn't possible. So, for now, they just needed to focus on the present and the most immediate issue, the one they could help with.

"That's the long and short of it," he agreed. "Well, no time like the present to get down to business. I'm counting on you in there, Remy."

Remy gave Kirk a salute as he continued to hike over the territory. "Of course Captain, would hate to let ya down." Hey, at least he was able to stop himself from throwing a Scotty accent on top of that, even if it would had meant Remy would have to finally have that talk with Kirk about how he knew him. That was going to be a little awkward once it had to happen.

Kirk gave him a smile (behind the mask of course) and a nod before his face slid into a more serious expression and he turned to the door, taking a breath.

Here went nothing.
