[Ahsoka is wandering around outside with her usual air filtration mask on, but something is different-- obviously different. This isn't the sixteen-maybe-seventeen year old girl of yesterday. This is a pre-teen. And she seems lost.]

... Skyguy? ... Master Kenobi? I know you guys are around! You can come out now...! "Prank the padawan" isn't funny any more...

[She shudders.] This planet is giving me the creeps.

[The video is simple: a young, familiar alien graces the screen, except... something's off. Way off. It's not just that her clothes are different-- she's shorter, horns smaller, too. When she talks, her voice is more high pitched, and the cadence different too. Less... calm.]



Hey! Is everyone just okay with the fact that we can't go outside without air filters?! What sort of condition is this for people to live in? What's being done to help the local inhabitants? Or move them off-world?

I need to speak to the person or people in charge! Immediately.

[So much shorter. Ahsoka at this age is about five foot one-- horns included. She bounces over, all cheer. In comparison to Sansa's silk skirts, this version of Ahsoka wears even less than her older counterpart. A tube top and a short skirt, coupled with leggings underneath-- it seems like the cold of space doesn't really get to her.]

Yep! No problem. There's no way you can become a padawan if you don't pass flight training. Though-- it's harder without an astromech. I miss R7 already...

I've not heard tell of astromechs. [ and yet she tackles the word with grace as she gestures ahsoka down the hall. they can use her office, she supposes. a more appropriate space than her personal quarters. ]

[Ahsoka follows, looking up at Sansa as they go.]

You don't have astromechs where you're from? Gosh...

Well, they're a kind of droid! --You know. Robot. They're made to help with piloting and navigation. They're not so important on bigger ships, but on shuttles and fighters that are too small for a co-pilot, they're really helpful! There's just so much you have to be aware of when you're flying, you know?

Plus, if you get shot down and fall unconscious, they can take over control of the ship so you don't crash...

We have no robots of any sort. [ a polite, but apologetic smile. ] Nor do we have ships that fly. I never saw one -- not ever -- before I came here.

[resnipstance]

What, really? [Ahsoka's eyes go comically wide.]

So-- who does the cooking? And the cleaning?

[steeledskin]

Handmaids. Pages. Cooks. Serving boys. [ -- servants, and before the fleet sansa has always had them. girls to brush her hair and soap her back and scrub her floors. ]

[resnipstance]

Ohhh. I guess that makes sense.

Senator Amidala had handmaidens, once. When she was Queen of Naboo...

[steeledskin]

A queen would. [ a small nod, and a moment of consideration as she holds the door open to her office. ] But I wasn't aware she was a queen at all. She seems so kind.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka follows her in.]

Well, she's not anymore. The Naboo have a democratic monarchy-- they elect their ruler. Senator Amidala was elected two terms in a row, before she decided to pursue a career in the Galactic Senate instead!

And why shouldn't she be kind? That's why she was so beloved as Queen! I don't know anyone that dislikes Padmé. It's impossible!

Can one be an effective queen while being universally liked, and being kind? [ an honest question. once upon a time, this is the sort of queen she'd hoped to be. ]

[resnipstance]

Huh? Well... why not?

[This Ahsoka is still young; she doesn't catch on to Sansa's meaning as her older counterpart might have.]

Some queens must make difficult choices. [ but instead of queens, she's thinking about kings. about her brother. ] Choices that cannot always be popular.

[resnipstance]

Ohhh. I think I get it.

To tell the truth, I was still a kid when Senator Amidala was Queen, so I don't remember it very well. [Ahsoka you still are a kid, sit down.] There might've been some stuff like that! But people still seem to remember her fondly, so I guess the good stuff outweighed the bad!

[steeledskin]

Or she was simply so good, she could not help but be loved. [ ... ] There are stories of kings, like that. But the stories are old. I doubt there have been any rulers like that in many ages.

I like that interpretation best.

I mean. I guess she had enemies. But they were usually bad guys anyway!

[What a simplistic world view she once had.]

You know! The bad guys. The guys that the good guys fight against!

[DUH.]
