[for once, Zhas is not wearing a full face of skull makeup.

so for all intents and purposes, this looks like a video feed of a pretty normal guy propping up his communicator on something so that he doesn't have to hold it. as he steps back, his eyes go a little glowy in the dim light of the Red Fish's cargo bay--but that's not the focus, here.

his expression stays blank, but he brings his hands up to sign, in very clear ASL:] 'Who understands sign language?'

[huh. that's a pretty cool name. he'll do the same in turn.]

Z-H-A-S. Or-- [he signs the letter Z over his face, for short.] On the red F-I-S-H.

[he refuses to make the sign for "fish". it was true a year ago and it's still true now.]

How long have you been here?

[But the "fish" sign looks cute.]

Almost one year. You new?

[exactly.]

I was here... [his hands hover in the air for a moment as he looks up, doing the math again.] Six months ago. Was here for one year and some months. Left. Here again now.

[with how no one is talking, his sigh is especially audible.] Feels like I left for one week. Confusing.

[No kidding that's confusing. His brow raises in curiosity.]

Did you remember here when there?

[He's heard people forget, but he's never asked anyone who remembers being here before.]

[this is another question he has to think about... some details are so hard to remember that he questions whether they actually happened at all, or if they were just something his subconscious mind conjured up for him during his restless nights on the Marsiva.]

No. I did not know I had been gone until I came back here, and the days... math did not add correctly.

Do you know of any other person here who has gone and come back?

[He nods. That fits with what he's assumed - it's easy for him to see the augments affect memory.]

There are others. I haven't talked to them about it.

Time does not line up. My opinion is they choose when to take us from. Bigger drama?

[accompanied by a frown, almost a pained look.]

I think there was another--third place, but I can't remember clearly.

A place like this? [There are a few he knows of from other passengers.]

Castle? Prison? [He spells out the next two.] Luceti? Adstringeum?

[he shakes his head at the first two suggestions, and then again at the others--that isn't quite right.]

It was cold, and a thing was there. It saw me. But that is... [he drifts off after the gesture to tap at the crown of his head with a finger. like it's in there, he just can't find it again.

but then he moves again, to complete the thought.] ...It feels like a dream, but this place does not... [he has to spell out the next word: c-o-i-n-c-i-d-e-n-c-e.]

[The Vision nods.]

[his shoulders sink a little as he says it--not from disappointment, but from relief, letting go of a tension he didn't realize he was holding there. validation isn't something he's used to, not even during his previous time here.]
