[In many ways it's a relief to be back in space. Weird as hell to be traveling outside of hyperspace, but comforting at the same time. he takes a shuttle over to the Iskaulit every morning for meditation practice (which he still isn't very good at), but for much of the rest of the time he can be found on the Caprine, studying various things from his communicator in the kitchen while munching on some more of his weird snack creations or practicing his combat forms in the cargo bay. Sometimes he'll switch it up and use the weights, but free movement is still better for his back. Atroma may have healed the wound he received, but it's still not wise to put too much stress on it.]

[Finn's working out in the cargo bay when the shuttle docks, and he sets aside the staff he'd been using to see who it is.]

Hey. Pinkie's friend, right? [What was his name, some kind of food.] Cheese?

[Wow that's a lot to take in in such a short space of time. Cheese blinks for a second, before his expression settles into a frown.]

He said what? I mean, I know humans can be pretty barbaric with their meat thing and everything, but I've never had one say they'd eat me before! What a jerk!

[Still, Allen's good people...he guesses so. ]

Allen told him to apologise you said?

[Finn gets a wide smile regardless of the pony's worry. If he knows Pinkie, then he is automatically good people. It's just how it works.]

Sure am. Cheese Sandwich, at your service.

[Finn nods and waves for him to come on in.] Finn. I'm Security over here. What's that you got there?

[Cause it can't be real chicken meat, if he's as vegetarian as Pinkie is.]

Ugh, I know. I mean everybody here's been really nice about it. Heck, I don't think Finn's BEEN eating meat onboard since I came back even though I say it's fine if he needs to. Why does THIS guy need to like it so much and be a jerk about it?

But yup, Allen made him apologize and promise not to eat anything he could have a conversation with. Although now I'm kinda worried if the Atroma bring somebody MUTE to the fleet.

Wow, really? You've got some pretty great crewmates. [Most of his still eat meat, they just try to avoid doing it in his presence. ] I guess some humans just are jerks by nature. You know, like griffons or dragons that aren't the little one that hangs around with you gals.

[Huh. ]

Allen's pretty okay. He wished me a happy Hearthswarming last winter without me even having to tell him about it. He remembered it from the ponies he met before.

[He offers her a smile. ]

Aaaand if that's the case, we're just gonna have to be extra sure to stick up from them right? We'll make sure they're okay.

[Cheese glances at his back, before turning back to Finn. ]

Oh, him? That's Boneless 2. He's a rubber chicken. He wanted to come with me to make sure Pinkie was okay.

[Yep. The inanimate object wanted to do something. Y.E.P. ]

[She smiles a little more now.]

Yeah, we will.

Speaking of which, though, not ALL griffons and non-Spike-y dragons are bad, Cheesy. Some of them are just hard to get to know.

[Stop the racism, do you want Windingos to freeze the ship?]

[Poe is definitely happier being out in space. He's got himself parked at the pilot station most of the time, because that's basically his place of maximum happiness. Though sometimes he's only half paying attention to the controls and reading or working on a puzzle game he bought right before they left the moon.

He also regularly takes the shuttles out. Training runs, he says. Making sure they're ready to go. It's more that at least the shuttles are more maneuverable than the ship, and therefore more fun to fly. Best to keep his hand in. So if anyone wants to learn some tricks from a pro, he's happy to take them along.]

[ He shakes his head. ]

I know some details, but I do not know the content of one's heart and mind. That belongs to you and you alone. It is a curse but it is mine to bear.

[ And he chose it, for the sake of other people. A selfless choice. ]

[Yeah, no, that's...confusing. Is it alive? It looks like plastic.]

Oh. Uh--

[And then the rest of it hits him.]

Wait, is something wrong?

[DOES HE HAVE TO GO KICK SOME ASS?]

[Poe's taken a short break to make himself a drink--the autopilot is perfectly adequate on the ship, which means he spends a lot of time feeling bored. He gives Dany a friendly wave as he passes by.]

Everything looking good today, ma'am?

[It stares at Finn with DEAD RUBBER EYES. Maybe it's only alive for the righteous at heart. Or...you know, batshit insane equids. ]

I don't know. She said she wanted somepony to talk to, company, you know. I don't think things are as okay as they should be, though.

[GO KICK THEIR ASS, FINN. He'll hold your flower. ]

[He remains unconvinced. ]

I dunno. I met a couple on my travels and they were pretty jerky. Buuuuuut I'm not exactly as great at the friendship thing as you gals are, so it's probably that.

Wait, you're not? I mean I know you were shy when you were littler, but...

[That... would explain why only a couple of people gave a straight "yes" whenever she asked them if they were Cheese's friend, though.]

[That would be exactly why. He waves a hoof a little, trying to brush it off as not a big deal. Mostly because this falls into Talking About His Past territory, and who wants that? Not him, that's for sure. ]

Oh sure, I'm better at talking to folks now and throwing them great parties. But the whole making a friendship and making it last thing? Thaaaat's a whole lot trickier.

Aw, Cheesy...

[She nuzzles into the hug even more, giving him a soft, tender smile.]

Do you wanna get better at that? Ever since Twilight got her new castle and the Friendship Map we've been going all over Equestria and past it to help with friendship problems, so we've got some practice. If you want, anyway.

[Pinkie, snuggling closer, offering to help him form deeper connections, is he in heaven yet?]

[They had gotten by so far on the autopilot function, since losing their last pilot, but Dany was forever glad to have Poe, who had come highly recommended to her. He was friendly and got on well with the rest of the crew. She certainly owed Finn a great deal for finding him.]

So far, yes. I'll be happy when we land somewhere else, wherever that may end up being.

[Hopefully that wouldn't doom them.]

[Or he could just be pretending? Finn nods, looking a bit unsure, but then he snaps back into focus.]

Well, tell her I got her back too, okay? It's probably real weird for her to be around all humans all the time, even if she's got a good attitude about it.

[That gets a genuine smile out of him.]

It takes some getting used to, and she's only been here a short time. It just takes some...adjusting.

[Because humans can be INCREDIBLE ASSHOLES, no offence, dude. ]

But thanks, I'll tell her. It's awesome of you guys to look out for her here. She- means a lot to me, so I'm glad she's got friends aboard here.

[He died and he went to pony heaven, this is what has happened right now. It's the only explanation. He clears his throat, somewhat nervously because wow, just WOW. The quiet traces of the shy colt that is always lurking under the surface comes a little more to the forefront. ]

Wow, well, gosh, sure! I mean- yeah. That would be just great,

[Aw, he's adorable. See, he doesn't need to be happy and hyper ALL the time if he doesn't want to.]
