[ kate's surroundings are, quite evidently, a lush little corner of málum. the neon-y blue tinge of the bar's decor casts its colour over her features. there's a tall, impressively concocted cocktail at her elbow. ] I mean, I know I do. So here's how it goes: you tell me anywhere you'd rather be but here, with the caveat that it can't just be a home. I think it's safe to say that home is a very understandable answer, but it's also a little too achingly realistic for my purposes. So pick somewhere else. Pick Ibiza. Pick Iceland, if you want.

I think it more the case of just not all planets have card games. The Atroma had us all pulled onto one of their bigger ships several months back, threw everyone into one area 'nd they had cards there to help past the time. Collected up all I could back then.

'nd really, cards just be an item, 'nything I touch can turn into ammo. [A shrug of his shoulders with that.]

[ just with fewer...powers involved. ]

[Remy grinned at her laughter and comment, before curiosity turned it more serious.] 'd think that would 'ffect the aerodynamics a bit, though suppose depends over the distance ya firin'. Know I got a preferred brand to use, got the right weight to the cards so don't get blown 'way too easily, but still 'nough to get that right arch for it to really fly.

[ she nods. ] I know it's the same with -- uhm, Clint. [ a waggle of her fingers. ] A favourite brand. Knowing where to bend the card just right. I swear, that guy probably once made a living chucking stupid things into beer glasses from across a bar.

Me? I tend to stick to the arrows. Maybe the odd throwing star. A knife, if need be.

Clint? 'nother Avenger? [Since the tone strikes Remy as it is someone she expects him to know.] Hey, I have ya know that be a real easy way to make quick money as ya need to, especially if ya fake bein' bad at it first few times then make them go double or nothin'.

Throwin' stars, hein? Also something never tried a hand at, knives, oui but prefer to have a flat edge so don't go cuttin' m' hand up when throwin' them.

Another Avenger. [ she nods. ] Clint's pretty much a legacy member. The first Hawkeye. [ ... ] But some would say -- not the best Hawkeye.

[ kate's not one of the ones who say it. she has tremendous respect for clint, despite all else. ]

Oh, jeez. There've been, like, hundreds. These days? Who knows who's on what team. But back when I was a kid it was -- Hawkeye, Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor. I think Black Widow ducked in and out from time to time. When Clint joined up, I'm pretty sure Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were on the team.

[Remy nodded along as she spoke, pausing as he picked out names he knew either from home or from those who had been on the Fleet or in Luceti, yet he froze as she said those last names, eyes narrowing a bit.] Wanda 'nd Pietro? [Really?] Really? [Pietro?] Pietro?

Absolutely. [ probably not the best time, then, to explain how she's best friends with one of wanda's sons. and occasional make-out buddies with the other. ] I've worked with Quicksilver before. Not the easiest ally to deal with, to be honest.

So have I, 'nd that certainly left me not wantin' to get within ten yards of the boy. Hell, ten states seem not 'nough with how fast he can move. [Ugh, Pietro. He had been a real pain during his stay with the Acolytes, and had only been around because Daddy had let him stay, not because he was ready to be part of the team. The day Remy was able to dump him back off with the Brotherhood had been a godsend.

Although it had always been entertaining to try and dose him up on sugar and let him run himself into a sugar crash.] 'nd Wanda... [Well... was Wanda. Wonderful girl, if not a little brain dead thanks to the mind melting that had been done on her. Poor girl.] She... doin' ok in that type of role?

[ she doesn't know how else to explain that knot of a problem. or whether m-day even happened where gambit's from. kate hedges. ] I don't see her a lot. Clint's a lot closer to her than I am.

That's good to hear. [He may not know the Wanda from Kate's world, but he had became decent friends with the one from his during their time in Luceti, even if he had done wrong by her more than a couple of times. Remy hoped he had made up for it a bit, but it seemed pointless if she just went back home and forgot everything that happened.

Then again, that might also be for the best...]

[ and then it just sorta spills out, rough-and-tumble: ] Her son is one my best friends.

Oh yeah? Tommy or Billy? [There was no surprise in his tone, having met them both during his time in Luceti. Good kids ('kids', as if they weren't that much younger than Remy was), even if Tommy hadn't been around as long as Billy had. Real good kids considering their genetics. Really, considering their grandfather and uncle it's surprising how well they turned out.]

[ -- an odd relief washes over her face. kate talks big, but there's an intrinsic comfort found in remy's question -- as though it somehow solidifies her world as real. just as real as any other, at least.

kate's smile is coy. ] Billy. But I'm no stranger to Tommy, too. He's on the team so to speak.

I'd say I'm much closer to Billy, though. [ semi-regular smooch-fests with tommy aside. ]

I ran 'nto them at the last place I was stuck before the Fleet. Billy be a real great guy, damn talented. Got pretty close with the version of his mère from my world, was a good tutor for her too since she still workin' on her powers.

Tommy, he just too much like his uncle, [A shake of Remy's head.] Poor guy.

I think I'm a little jealous. [ it's something she freely admits. ] I miss them so much. Even Tommy.

[ ... ] Was there anyone else?

Ah, let see. [Remy took a moment to think, drumming his fingers against the table top as he did, matching up faces to the names she mentioned.] Teddy, Billy's beau was there while he was. Wolverine was there when I first got there, the one from my world. Thor and his, [Ugh.] 'Lovely' brother. Ah, Captain America. Tony Stark. Didn't really get to know most of them that well.

[Oh, and of course.] 'nd yaself. Ya 'nd the Wanda from my world got on real well. I didn' really get to know ya that well back then.

Teddy was there? Good. [ she leans forward, hanging off his every word. ] I don't like thinking about them...separated. They belong together.

[ ... ] Loki, though. Which one?

[ studiously, she ignores any mention of herself. it sits poorly in her stomach. ]

Same one we got here. [Before Remy raised a brow at her.] Don't tell me he's a half decent guy in ya universe, 'cause that seems real hard to believe.

Decent? Nah. But -- easier to handle. [ ... ] He managed to get younger. Somehow. And his younger self always seems to be duke'n it out with his worser nature.

Depending on the day? He's also on the team. So to speak.

Mon Dieu, Pietro 'nd Loki on the team, startin' to feel real sorry for ya'll. [No, seriously, he is. Remy couldn't begin to guess which would be worse, the grumpy old Loki they had here, or a younger 'teen' Loki with hormones. Same for Pietro if he turned out to be anything like his old man.] This must seem like a holiday at times then. Then again, if ya universe 'nything like home, then 'ny day ain't gettin' attacked or sent on missions gotta be a day to treat like a holiday.

-- Our worlds have that in common, then. The ever-impending doom. Kinda makes it tough to do, well, just about anything else.
