birthdayyy

Who: Syeira, Arthur, anyone who's friends with Syeira!
Broadcast: none
Action: at the Space bar on the Iskaulit
When: today at 6pm

Arthur's set up the Space bar with handmade decorations, streamers, and a sign that neatly spells out 'Happy Birthday, Syeira'. Of course there's the bar, where you can buy drinks. Nami's probably here somewhere to ask permission.

But there's also a beverage table, with neat little labels for the punch, water, and free alcoholic beverages. There's also a nice heap of finger foods: crackers, dips, sandwiches, whatever Arthur could trade for or buy for the party.

There's a table set up for card games, a small area for dancing to the music that's playing in the background, and some tables in the corners for the less sociable.

All bards and the musically-inclined are encouraged to play and sing. Heck, maybe you can get Syeira to sing for everyone!

Arthur's set up a game of passing the orange, too, because evidently he gets his party ideas from classic movies. For those unaware, you're supposed to form two lines, each line being a team. You have to start with the orange tucked under your chin, and must pass it to the next person, until the last person, no matter where the orange rolls to. What an excellent way to awkwardly meet someone!

Don't forget cake! How did Arthur manage to find enough ingredients for cake? Who knows, but it's just a small sheet cake, vanilla. He did his best. It tastes decent, at least.

And there's a pile of presents on a table in the corner. Maybe you should find the birthday girl and give yours to her.

Have fun!

[ooc: Feel free to make a starter. Anyone friends with Syeira is invited! Backtags are always welcome.]

Having his presence not only welcomed, but also appreciated, is still something he isn't quite used to--especially coming from her. It strikes him a little every time... even if it is because of his lack of overt friendliness.

So, his expression eases up as well. With all of the revelry, a quiet greeting is nice.

He is very okay with not being hugged. He'd been a little worried about it, honestly.

She's hugged him before, but those where times when he was in desperate need of closeness, security, and comfort. While she's extremely grateful right now, he's not a casual touch person, and she respects that. Generally.

Are birthdays always this...I-N-T-E-N-S-E? Because how would she know? She's never had one.

He first signs that he doesn't know, and then takes another look around the room, rubbing the back of his neck from the looming discomfort of it. She's right--that certainly is the word for it. And he's not the best person to ask about the normalcy of it either; his pool of experience on the subject is rather limited.

'Zhas likes things like this.' And, after a second, he adds on the clarification of '--for birthdays.'

Because really, that's all he knows. Birthday celebrations hadn't really been a thing in his world before meeting Zhas.

That gets a brow raise. Really? Our Zhas?

As if there could ever be another. It's just surprising. He's always so somber. But he likes big birthdays. She'd have to keep that in mind for when Zhas' came around.

He even emotes a little, which goes to show just how comfortable that chatting with her has become. He almost winces a little as he nods. Yes. Their Zhas.

'Stay inside on Halloween,' he warns, without thinking much about whether or not she even knows what that might be.
child_of_bhaal: (oh dear)

I don't know that word, Halloween. She copies how he signed Halloween. Yeah, she's never heard of it.

'The last day of October. Don't let him take you anywhere.' And he seems as serious about this as he is about anything. He means this warning sincerely.

Why? What happens?

And remember I'm not from Earth.
She mimics 'October' and makes it a question. She doesn't run on remotely the same calendar as he does.
mortalcoil: (I wouldn't say anything anyway)

There is a decision to be made here... because he has an educated guess that telling her too much will make her want to follow him even more, if only to attempt to play babysitter.

And he knows firsthand how those attempts tend to go.

So, he just shakes his head. 'Don't listen to Zhas around his birthday.'
child_of_bhaal: (okay then)

[personal profile] child_of_bhaal 2016-06-15 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. He isn't going to tell her, so she may as well stop pushing. She'll just find out later, on Zhas' birthday.

When is yours?

He has a feeling that he hasn't succeeded in convincing her away from Zhas on his birthday, but he can hope that she at least remembers his warning when the time comes. One of these years, Zhas will have a birthday that Coil doesn't regret.

'September,' he answers. And then, after a pause-- 'It's a month in the autumn.'

Now that, she understands. At the very least, seasons were universal.

You don't do parties. An observation. She can't imagine Coil would enjoy having this kind of thing thrust upon him. He's too reclusive.
