[ Poor Stefan. Poor, poor Stefan. One way or another, Ino has decided that she wants to learn how to cook Stefan's favorite dish, whatever that might be ... and so here we are, with her more or less bullying him into the kitchen. ]

Okay, okay, so what's your favorite thing to eat? Or maybe, like, something that's really popular in your country?

[Some day, Stefan will be less terrified of Ino. That day isn't today, because even as he's rummaging around for cookware, he's keeping a safe (and healthy) distance from her.]

Um... I personally like ma'amoul - they're cookies filled with nuts or dates - but since it's Ramadan, I was thinking that we could make Mansaf. Or well, the closest we can get to mansaf, since meat's hard to find around here.

[ Hey, she has no nefarious intentions. This time, anyways!

Ino isn't much of a meat person -- though she does enjoy some good Korean BBQ every once in awhile -- so she's about to protest that the cookies sound better, but ... ]

What's mansaf?

[ She pauses, realizing that's not the only thing she's confused about. ]

And what's Ramadan? A festival?

Kind of. Ramadan's a holy month of fasting. [Stefan stops, setting down a bowl.] For thirty days, people'll fast from sunup to sundown.

It's about understanding hardship and what other people may go through, and uh - when we break our fast, we'll have food like mansaf. It's a fancy word for "meat, usually lamb, on rice."

[ She stares a little. ]

I've never heard of a religious thing like that before. So ... it's okay if you're making food right now? --How do you know when to start and stop when there's not really a sunrise or sunset in space?

[ Ino, calm down. ]

I guess that sounds pretty good though.

More than okay. [He snorts, trying desperately to keep a smile off his face.] I've gotta eat at some point, right? And actually, my world figured that out when we sent astronauts into space. As long as I follow the time of a place called Makkah, I'm good.

[Actually, he doesn't need to fast. Islamic provision and all - except he wants to, because life on the Fleet isn't exactly a hardship.]

So... let's make cookies?

Hmm ... alright!

[ She brightens a little, knowing that it's not an inconvenience. ]

The cookies sound good. What do we need? I have flour, and sugar ...

Do you have jam? Or nuts? The specifics don't matter a lot, but you'll want some kind of filling.

[He resumes rummaging around, as if said filling will magically appear out of nowhere. In hindsight, he's not sure what he expected.]

Um ... I think we have jam. We definitely don't have nuts, though.

[ She looks thoughtful. ]

I'm sure there's gotta be someone who we could borrow some from ...

Hm. I don't have enough on my ship, or I would've offered to go back.

[There goes offering anything from the Paisley. He taps his fingers against the counter for a couple of seconds, before saying,] Nightingale, maybe?

Oh! Yeah! [ She grins. ] She cooks all the time. I bet she has something we can use.

[ She'll move to head to one of the shuttles ]

I got her a bunch of seasonings and stuff for Christmas, so I bet she's got some of it left.

Sounds good. I'll see if I can repay her at the next planet too.

[He'll let Ino take the lead, since he's never visited Nightingale before.]
