[The communication device appeared simple enough for his purposes. It took him a moment or two to determine how it functioned. It was rather primitive, really.

His appearance was composed, his expression almost completely neutral when he switched on the transmission. He would present the appearance of strength despite the situation he found himself in.]

This is General Hux. Members of the First Order identify yourselves to me immediately.

[Straight to business. There was going to be no small talk.]

I seek answers as to where I am and why I was brought here. I assume there is some purpose to this.

[And with that the feed is cut. He is going to be exploring around Marsiva to find out where exactly he is.]

The stars belong to the Valar.

And what are these Valar?

Those names are not familiar to me.

[He had access to the Imperial resources growing up so he knew many planets, systems and moons but these names were so foreign.]

That hardly sounds very different from the Republic. So I ask again. What makes you so different?

We hail from different worlds. (Different universes!) That does not surprise me.

Our methods are effective, we have the strength and will the Republic had always lacked. There are no committees, no Senate where the rot is allowed to fester and spread.

There will be no separatists, no fractures in the system. It will not be allowed. [Because those systems would be...dealt with. He had no qualms about the Starkiller Base. It had been very effective.]

That sounds like corruption on a different scale. As in kill all the dissidents who dare to protest.

If that is what it takes to keep order then it is a necessary price to pay.

Except you're not the one paying it, are you? Or do you expect people to eventually stop protesting the Empire?

How long has it been now, fifty years? Fifty years of war. The Republic is gone and the Empire has come. And yet, there is no peace.

Eventually they will cease or they will be dealt with as traitors and terrorists who insist on causing chaos.

There are no other alternatives.

Right? I didn't even know that until a little while ago, I thought we were just stuck in space.

[ Something about this feels off. It seems rehearsed or something Hux has heard rather than seen for himself. ]

And yet, it's taking rather long, isn't it?

So it seems. In your world you worship stars, in my world we are able to harness their energy.

[And destroy them.]

Yet you are no Valar. You are not even a Maiar. (His lips twitch.) Do you fully accept the burden of your actions?

If I am going to be stuck here, at least I will be compensated for the trouble.

[It's like a paid vacation from Kylo Ren. That is always a bonus.]

I don't need to be a god to command the power of the stars.

[Hux didn't really understand that question. He knew what he did in using up the energy from two stars and he didn't regret it.

Also Star Destroyers are pretty awesome.]

And what burden would that be?

[He had grown up hearing the exact same speech. Hux was only four years old when the Emperor fell and when he went off with his father along with some of the Imperial fleet after the treaty was signed.

He had only grown up hearing the idealized tales of the Empire. He wanted to bring back that world he had heard in those stories more than anything.]

That is why it's necessary to develop more effective means. This time the traitors will be rooted out and destroyed much more quickly when they have nowhere to hide.

[ Obi-Wan shakes his head. ]

I wasn't a traitor, but history may remember me as such. I wonder what history will say of you when the man behind the First Order achieves what he needs?
