[The communication device appeared simple enough for his purposes. It took him a moment or two to determine how it functioned. It was rather primitive, really.

His appearance was composed, his expression almost completely neutral when he switched on the transmission. He would present the appearance of strength despite the situation he found himself in.]

This is General Hux. Members of the First Order identify yourselves to me immediately.

[Straight to business. There was going to be no small talk.]

I seek answers as to where I am and why I was brought here. I assume there is some purpose to this.

[And with that the feed is cut. He is going to be exploring around Marsiva to find out where exactly he is.]

You know this guy?

He's the general in charge of the First Order troops. Blew up the entire Hosnian System with a weapon called Starkiller because he wanted to destroy the New Republic government and didn't care how many civilians died in the process.

You could say I know him by reputation. And by blowing up said base under him.

He-- what?

[Ahsoka's clearly appalled beyond words.]

He'll probably make a lot of big noises about restoring order to the galaxy. That's what he means. An entire system of planets just wiped away, and the damage is justified because they stood against the First Order.

It's sick. [And Poe is so very, very angry about it.]

An entire system... all those billions of lives... that's horrific!

How is a weapon like that even allowed to exist?

We didn't know about it until it got used. There's still a lot of territory in the galaxy that the First Order controls and we don't have reliable intelligence. Once we knew it was there, we got in and destroyed it before they could use it again. Thanks to Finn.

[With feeling:] Good.

I can't believe it... if it's not one thing, it's another, isn't it? Is there ever going to be peace again?

I don't know. We're trying. But as long as there's this belief that difference and non-violent dissent have to be eliminated... and I don't know where that came from. But it's wrong.

Of course it's wrong!

I guess I just thought... maybe after the Empire was defeated, everything would go back to the way it was before... but maybe that was too naive.

I think the problem is... they thought with the Emperor and Vader gone, the Empire would just fall apart. But there were other people who believed the same crap that were ready to step in and take their place. And then the New Republic government didn't go after them, because they wanted to believe it wasn't a threat. So the Empire really never went away, it just gave itself a new paint job.

Ugh. Gross.

Don't worry, Poe. I won't let this scumbag near you or Finn. Or anyone else, if I can help it.

Hux doesn't scare me. He stands at the back line. Didn't even have the spine to be around when they were interrogating me.

[Now Kylo Ren? That's another story. If that guy ever shows up, Poe is grabbing Finn and running like hell.]

Yeah. I don't know if he even knows what end of the blaster to hold. Don't really care either as long as he stays the hell away from Finn.

... On second thought, you better not. I feel like I've already heard too much about the future.

That's how I feel too, but...

I don't know-- what if the way things happened was the will of the Force? Does that mean... I'm saying that I know better than the Force? Who's to say that stopping one thing won't just create something else, something worse, further on down the line?

... I mean. That isn't going to stop me, if I really decide to do it. But it's such a serious decision. We need to be careful of examining it from every angle.

If there was no war in your time right now, and the Empire never existed, but your life was completely different and you knew there'd just be another war in sixty years time from now anyway... would you still want it all changed?

I don't know anything about the Force or fate or any of that stuff. I'm just a pilot. I deal with concrete solutions, right?

[He shrugs.]

I think if I knew a lot of people were going to suffer and I could prevent it, I'd do what I had to do. It's already what I'm doing now. It's just harder when it's an abstract concept.

[The simplicity of Poe's answer makes her smile. There's a time when her answer would've been the same-- straightforward, to the point. Unconcerned with any extra details.]

You know... technically, I'm... not really a Jedi. Even if I still do my best to adhere to the Code, I... actually left the Order.

It's fine. It's a recent development. I'm still in the habit of saying "we" instead of "they" myself.

It isn't like I know anything about the Jedi anyway.
