[She wakes up feeling odd. Can't quite place it. Her clothes hang a little more loosely when she puts them on, and Nami makes a face. She's been run off her feet way too much lately. Which means... now is probably a good time to make that call she's been putting off, with certain bffs turning into crazed Stepford wives. :|]

Malum isn't the only place that's short-staffed. The Space Bar could do with at least one more bartender, maybe two. We definitely need a chef, so if you're interested in earning some more cash and all the free drinks you want, basically the same deal applies! I'll be at the bar all day, so if you're interested, come in and say so.

[She could probably have put more effort into that, but she's too tired. Blagh. Oh wait, an addendum:]

Within reason, by the way. If you're some kind of demigod with a limitless appetite for alcohol I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to limit you on your free consumption.

[This is not hypocritical at all, given her own tolerance. But hey. Basically if you can outdrink Nami, you... probably shouldn't get all the free beer you want or you'll put her out of business.

[For the afternoon she's fine, even if she has to cinch her cute saloon dress in another tiny bit. She has lost weight. There's a vague resolution of taking a couple days off and stuffing her face once she has more than one other staff member (and Fenris could probably do with the option of more time off besides), and she just gets on with it. If you come into the bar in the afternoon she'll be her usual self, serving drinks and talking to potential employees or crammed in a corner on a break with a sandwich and a pack of cards.

Evening hits, and so does exhaustion. She slows down, occasionally gets distracted staring into space, and there's a light flush on her face that isn't from drinking. It's only a few hours on that she has to squint to focus, and Nami acknowledges that, okay, she might be coming down with something, and maybe she left looking for staff a little too long. But she keeps working, until either the bar closes or someone well-meaning chases her out of the bar. Buuut if you do that, you better be prepared to cover for the rest of the night, gosh.

Either way, by the time she leaves the bar and starts heading for the shuttle bay, her face is flush with fever to the point that the tips of her ears are turning red, and all her joints ache.

This feels familiar.

...it's probably just the flu.

She travels the hallways down to the shuttle bay, leaning on the walls to get her balance back, and manages to make it all the way down to the Bloodsport's shuttle, getting the hatch open, before she just... slides down its side to her knees, closing her eyes. She should probably get back to her ship and get a doctor's opinion.

Orrr maybe she'll just... pass out. Right here.

[She feels a faint twinge of irritation, mostly borne from the fact she feels like dirt and Simon is trying to write it off as a flu. Which isn't fair, she hasn't given him all the info yet, but redheads and their temper. (Sick redheads and their temper.)]

No. It's not -- none of those things happen. It's an infection in the blood. Causes acute inflammation and swelling of the heart, brain, arteries... they call it the five day fever.

But thank you, Sascha, you're a gem. She even manages a faint arm squeeze, though really it's more a twitch of her fingers.]

[He then turned back to Nami, frowning a little.]

... sorry, I must have misheard you before. I can give you anti-inflammatories, in that case. Is there anything else I should know?

[His voice is calm, professional- he's dealt with plenty of patients who were sick or in pain and in bad moods or not articulating themselves well because of it in the past.]

[ A blood infection?? It must not have been very far along when he have her a check-over earlier. Or maybe he'd have to actually smell her blood? The idea isn't appealing to him simply because it's mean Nami would have an open cut and then he'd feel bad for her :c ]

[No. It takes a few hours to really sink in and then after that it's like... blood on fire, all the time. Hooray.

Simon's professionalism is reassuring, if more for the fact that it reminds her a lot of Chopper. Flyaway and excitable little doctor, but not when he's doing his job. Nami closes her eyes.]

I don't think so. I think. Just see what happens.

[Anti-inflammatories, huh. She assumes he means stuff that will actively fight infection and not glorified muscle relaxants.]

[Simon nodded, rooting around in the cabinet for another pill.]

If you have an infection, then antibiotics should help, too. I'll give you one of these every few hours and keep monitoring your condition- and again, do let me know if something changes. If you don't get any better, I'll need to take some blood and see if it's anything I'm familiar with.

Take it now. [That's to Simon.] I don't even know if I'll be aware after today. I think I'd feel better if you took it now, just in case.

[For reasons of still being lucid enough to answer any questions and...uh. Honestly she knows she won't have any choice after today, but she'd really prefer to know when someone's sticking needles in her.]

[Simon nodded his agreement and began prepping a needle, glancing at Sascha as he did so- both because of the blood and because he remembered what happened when he'd tried to crawl into bed with Nami and their tiff had ended up being broadcast.]

Consent is important, yes- so I'll go ahead and take some and test it now. And Sascha, no cuddling while she is ill. If you want to watch her, well, that's Nami's choice.

Yes sir... [ But, since there's going to be needles and blood? Sascha will respectfully move a fair distance away to give them space. ]

[It's all right, Sascha. Making faces aside, Nami doesn't think you'll try anything super-weird. She flashes him a worn smile, especially given he's offering respect by giving distance. Must be tough on a vampire, right? That's what she thinks.

She offers up an arm to Simon, though given her jelly strength right now it's shaking a little with the effort.]

[Simon nodded his thanks to Sascha for keeping his distance before he turned his attention back to Nami. He gently pushed her arm back to the bed before drawing blood with practiced ease, bandaging the needle insertion point when he was finished.]

Both of you, thank you for your cooperation. It will take me a while to analyze this sample, but I will let you know the results as soon as possible. Is there anything else I can do? Anything I can get you...?

[ It's definitely not easy since it's very much like people eating chocolate cake in front of you when all you want to do is eat chocolate cake but you can't because you're on a diet. Awful. ]

[Yeah, Sascha heading for the door isn't a surprise. She smiles wryly, wincing a little at the blood-drawing. It's more sensitive than usual, but she expected that.]

I guess I just need to stay in bed for a while. I don't think there's much else that can be done.
