Red Fish Mingle
Who: The crew and (many) visitors of the Red Fish!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Aboard the SS Red Fish
When: Nebulously after the Great Winter Soldier Violence Spree of '16
[it was bound to happen sometime. all three captains of the SS Red Fish are hauled back home in various stages of medical distress, and things have been a little weird since then.
one of these things is the super soldier with the busted metal arm that is brought in to be kept locked up in Coil's lab for a while. turns out those restraints he'd had installed did come in handy. that's a thing.
so, whether you're here to check on one of the various ailing people here, gawk at the guy chained up in thedungeon lab, or are just trying to live your life in relative peace and sanity, come on in!]

How many people did Steve talk to about him, exactly? It doesn't really matter in the scheme of things. Winter shouldn't be surprised. ]
Yes, it's pre-existing. There's this programming.. for mission protocols.

The thing is, Sam could understand that this is better - granted, he doesn't believe that this will change anything (because let's face it, the Atroma can change anything in a person's head they want), but he still gets the general idea.]
I do get it. If there's something going on with your body and you don't feel safe to be around people, it's well within your right to stay here, chained or not. I'm sorry we caused a bit of a scene earlier — but, uh. I get it. Once I got your input, anyway.
... Is there a way to tell when you're going through these episodes? A way to tell they're over? Sooner or later, you've got to be released from here and carry on with your life. Got to get time to heal, yourself. Not just physically.

[ He hasn't felt right since he woke up. Winter's not sure whether it's from the augment glitch or his mind trying to rebel again. It could be the guilt already starting to manifest. ]
Never kept me out of the ice long enough to find out.
[ De-ice, wipe, protocols, mission, wipe, ice. Rinse and repeat. But that was the Soviets. More recently, HYDRA relied heavily on ice, memory wipes, and fear.
So honestly? He doesn't know if this is normal or not, but he doesn't feel like he's out of the water just yet. ]

I'll check in with you, see if we can learn anything while you're here. Might help to monitor it.
[He pauses.]
You have any memory of the attack? You seemed pretty blank. Are you sure this wasn't something supernatural happening to you? Maybe something, um. Possessing you?
[AKA how are you sure it was your mindwash wiring?]

[ He's trying, but it's refusing to budge at this point. Mind as stubborn as ever. ]

And you don't... feel like reality is wrong or anything, do you? When you lost chunks of time.
Or that someone's - still in there? Nothing like that, right?

There's no one else in my head, that's not the issue.

He breathes out, soft and considerate of what to reply with. He knows it's gonna be a Speech of minor proportions, but he also wants to express his genuine hope to help, and his empathy. You know, Dean always teases him about the sympathetic counselor vibes.]
That's good, at least. Um. That's what happened to me, actually. Someone was in my head, and I was used to hurt people against my will; friends, even. So I just wanted to... tell you that if you ever want to talk more about it, I'm. Uh. I'm not looking to try to seem like someone to be pitied. I don't really want pity. And I'm betting you feel the same.
I just... wanted to offer an ear of understanding, if you ever consider. I bet you've got a lot rolling around upstairs, and to be honest, I do, too. [He shrugs, offering a pleasant but sheepish smile.] It'd probably help me just as much as it helps you anyway.
