Typicality has nothing to do with it. Were you home schooled or just a recluse?
proteusmoon: (☾ The coffee's never strong enough)

Hmmmm... I'm not sure what you mean by "home-schooled".

[ What other kind of schooling is there? ]

I was trained from an early age for knighthood.

Schooled at home. [ He squints. ] As opposed to public schooling.

Literal and actual knighthood?
proteusmoon: (☾ I'm all wasted conversations)

[ She kind of squints back. She's not understanding what the difference between these two concepts is. ]

Literal and actual knighthood.

[ She nods in affirmation. ]

I'm afraid I don't have some sort of identification to prove it.
sensationate: (✬go down in history)

I'd believe it, considering how they take everything of ours when we arrive here. [ Yes, he still misses his stuff. How dare they. ] But it's not like having proof would grant you any authority here anyway, so I don't really care. What is it you do here?
proteusmoon: (☾ Counts for very little)

[personal profile] proteusmoon 2015-02-16 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
What does my knighthood have to do with authority anywhere?

Knights are generally on orders from their queen or king and act like the officials in disputes, don't they? Some kind of royal power decreed to them.

[ no he doesn't actually know, shut up ]
proteusmoon: (☾ The coffee's never strong enough)

[personal profile] proteusmoon 2015-02-17 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ In his defense, he's not too far from the truth. Just... well, Cecil hasn't done the whole "follow the monarch's orders" in over a year now, in part because... er, she is the aforementioned queen now. But she's not telling most people that. ]

The queen mandates a small force of the country's citizens with the authority to settle inner disputes and intervene should matters get out of hand. The royal guard protects the queen and the orders of knights protect the country's interests outside the main city both within and outside the limits of the kingdom.

So, no, not really. Most knights are merely instruments utilized by those around them. A knight is a servant-- not a ruler.

Yeah, but that's like trying to say the police don't have any power over the public. They do, even if they're ruled by the state who's ruled by the country. They definitely have authority.
proteusmoon: (☾ The coffee's never strong enough)

[personal profile] proteusmoon 2015-02-18 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Who?

[ She's never heard of police. ]
sensationate: (✬pull the blackout curtains down)

[personal profile] sensationate 2015-02-18 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The police? The state? The country?

[ At this rate, he's willing to believe she's not heard of any of them. He's generous like that. ]
proteusmoon: (☾ The coffee's never strong enough)

[personal profile] proteusmoon 2015-02-19 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's a good thing he's new and she's making a conscious effort to get along with all of her crew now in spite of their differences, because otherwise, he probably would have gotten at least a smack upside the head. ]

The police. I used the word "country" myself just moments ago.
sensationate: (✬heavy metal broke my heart)

Lots of people use words they don't know.

Police, though. They're like... officiators sponsored by the local governments to be a source of authority and peacemaking as recognized by the public. They deal with crimes issues of safety and the like.

Oh, so you're the equivalent of the Air Force. Okay. You seem rather chill for military, if I do say so myself.
proteusmoon: (☾ Bring back the days)

[ Yeah, he's on the right wavelength in assuming total unfamiliarity with regular modern human things for sure. Jordan laughs at the comment. ]

[ This is going to get so confusing when the whole Lunarian thing comes into play-- but for now! ]

Oh. I see. My mistake. I haven't heard anyone describe it that way.

[ It makes sense though and she seems really appreciative of this new turn of words she's just learned. ]
