[Transmission starts at the same moment the woman laying in fram shifts from unconsciousness to tense stillness—her eyes open, darting, and she goes tense, but otherwise there's no movement from her for the first four or five seconds. That seems to be how long it takes her to process that she's in an unfamiliar space with no memory of how she came to be lying there. Then one hand balls consciously into a fist. Her eyes flutter. Jaw tightens.

Natasha takes a deep breath and forces her body to relax muscle by muscle.

Seems like spies don't make for great entertainment when they first wake up. Not unless you find tension and veiled suspicious looks riveting. The first minute or two isn't much more than that. She wakes up. She sits up. She swings her legs over the edge of her cot and stretches her back, trying to flex the adrenaline out of her muscles.

She looks directly into the camera at one point, her expression flat, lips tightening in a frown. She taps the edge of the lens experimentally.]

You know, if you're gonna kidnap a girl you could at least buy her dinner first.

[Her voice is just a touch to defiant to be neutral as she speaks.

Then she hauls herself to her feet. The last thing caught on camera before the broadcast ends is a shot of her catsuited figure walking away.]

[well, that answers his question. halfway through writing his response, he realizes that this could be the one he knows pulling some sort of bizarre misdirection on him... but it seems very unlikely, and he's not clever enough to hold onto the idea for long.]

[She's heard enough already, just from her first couple of contacts, to know it's probably not that. There are already possibilities lining up in her head about what else it could be.

She doesn't like any of the options.]

sometimes. don't have a lot of experience with it myself.

[because he'd have to have, you know, talked to people in the first place to have later doubles to recognize. he's not sure where this leaves things, honestly... he liked the earlier Natasha, and this person looks just like her, but even if they are the same person--without the same memories, does it matter?]

sometimes people leave and then come back, so I thought I'd ask.

[that seems like a fair question. even he can see why she'd ask--and to his credit, he doesn't have anything to try and hide about it.]

not really. just talked sometimes, trained together when things got boring.

Yeah, all right. I can believe that.

[Insofar as it was credible at all, at least. It seemed a lot more realistic than claiming he'd been good friends with her, or someone very like her.]

You get bored a lot around here?

sometimes. not used to having downtime.

[it seems very silly to explain this to someone, but... "her" or not, he does have a soft spot for other passengers who've just arrived and want to find their footing. he prefers to be helpful, in cases like this.]

I disappeared ...? from here eight months ago, came back about a month ago. been a lot busier since then.

Disappeared? That's concerning. When you put it like that, kind of sounds like ou don't know where you went.

I remember being home, but not for six months. there was somewhere else, but that was also not long. that's the one I don't remember well. gets confusing. havent found many people with my problem, though.

So more of a mess with the timeline. I've heard it a little about that. People coming from different times, people having been here longer than should be possible, things like that.

So I guess most people come back and don't remember anything.
