I have an important request. I need someone who can make cheese. Do cheese makers have an old timey name like cobblers and haberdashers or are those only for clothes? Anyway, calling all of those.

Cheese doesn't seem to be a thing here from what I can tell, but we're just one ingredient away from some really great pizza. I have no idea what cheese requires other than cows or goats or something. I grew up so close to Wisconsin, but I feel like I learned so little.

I would also accept alternative cheese. I know there were vegan kinds made out of hopes and dreams or something I assume. I can pay you or share the finished pizza or do something in trade if I had skills. I could beat someone up for you maybe. [She's not going to do that. Probably.] We'll work it out.

It is. I'm sorry we can't share it. [She kisses his cheek.] It's really a false sense of freedom if it makes you feel any better. [She kisses his cheek. What he did for Kara was a real taste of freedom at least.] Want to do this throwing game thing?

It doesn't. [ he wants her to have a real sense of freedom. he wants all the best things in the world for her -- even if he'll end up envying her some. he smiles and squeezes her hand in return. what we did, he corrects wordlessly. kitty was integral to the process. sure, he would've gotten there on his own, but who knows how long that would've taken him. kitty helped, jim helped, other people helped without even realizing, just by talking to him and sparking ideas in his head. he wants to take the credit for this - he wants desperately to be of use, to be invaluable, to be necessary - but he can't. this was their accomplishment. and even without him, kara could've found someone to do this for her. after long enough, he's sure kitty would've come up with the idea on her own, if no one else did. ]

Yeah - let's do it.

[She drops some acorns with the guy and is handed a ball which she puts in Winn's hand. There are more chances waiting for them after that one.] You're up. [And loved and appreciated and anything else she can convey with a look and a touch.]

Right - [ he passes the ball around from hand to hand, assessing its weight, absentmindedly going through every physical law that might be of any potential use here.

come on, arms, don't fail him now. he leans in to kiss her. ]

[ he takes a breath, stares at his target, stretches his arm -- and throws.

the ball falls short. ]

Need more luck.

[ arm, why. why you do this. has he not been working you out with jim? what do you want from him? oh you wanna practice throwing to get good at throwing? such a diva. ]

Well, I really like the way you found for transferring luck so you're...in luck. [Smiling and pulling him closer for another kiss. There's no disappointment in her feelings as they kiss. Only happiness to be with him. Throwing isn't that important. It's just supposed to be fun.] Me next?

[ he gives her another quick kiss once they part and smiles. ]

Go ahead.

[ he can't help but be disappointed that he didn't even make it all the way, but he doesn't care that much, especially when he doesn't feel any judgment from kitty. he doesn't have to be the best at everything and the best at anything athletic he'll never be. unless typing becomes a sport. ]

[She throws. She scores. She kisses him in celebration if not for luck!] You're up, slugger. [Little nuzzle. How sick are they making the booth runner at this point?]

[ well, he hasn't shoved a prize at them and told them to go yet so winn would say - not nearly sick enough! he takes the ball, and kisses her thoroughly. you know. for more luck! ]

Right -- any tips?

[Luck transference is her favorite. She gives him a satisfied and loving look with her answer.] Be your awesome self and just have fun with it?

Easy enough -- he shoots --

[ he stares down his target -- stretches his arm -- and does about the same as he did last time only more off to the right. ]

He misses! Whoo! [ totally what he meant to do yup! ]

[Kitty claps for him.] You're loosening them up to make it easy on me. [And she means it. The biggest win would be for him to have fun no matter how objectively well he's doing.]

You caught me, always a gentleman.

[ it's not particularly hard for him to have a good time. he doesn't feel judged so he can deal much better with his sucking. ]

You are. [And that she says with complete sincerity.] Two more balls. I should probably get my kiss in before I try again. [The slowest but best game ever. And absolutely no judgment sneaks in with this kiss. She's entirely happy with what's going on. Maybe just a little nervous that he isn't but otherwise she's good.]

[ he's not a 100% there - but in his defense it's been a day of very intense revelations - but overall he's happy. he kisses back and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear when they part. ]

Knock 'em out.

Boyfriend says knock 'em out. [She's telling the disinterested booth keeper as she picks up a ball and does, indeed, knock 'em out. There's only one left standing now and one ball left. No pressure. Literally though. She doesn't mind if it stays standing as long as he doesn't.

She passes the ball off to him.]

You know -- if this was a movie, I'd make some impossible shot right now, but this is real life and we both know I'm gonna miss -- does that throwing it together thing actually work? Cuz if it doesn't you go ahead -

Probably not, but let's throw it together anyway. [She settles in behind him letting her fingers skim down the length of his arm before she's cupping his hand. Her body is pressed close to his. She likes this already, but seriously how would anyone be able to throw like this? She's not worried about another stuff animal or cheap bracelet or wooden puzzle. Actually the wooden puzzles look kind of cool. But the point is, she already has the best prize in this carnival.]

[ he likes this too. why didn't they throw all of them like that? oh yeah, because how do you actually throw like that - right. he loosen his arm, trying to let her guide him without any resistance. ]

[They pull back and release as one. They've spent enough time letting their bodies work in tandem that this works out better than it has any right to. In fact, it's a great shot! If it had been the first shot it would have knocked so many things down! But it's the last shot and does not actually hit the final obstacle leaving them prizeless. She couldn't care less.] That was great! [She means it completely.]

Should've opened with that -

[ it would've been awesome if it had actually hit the target, but that it went all the way through is pretty impressive to him. and he kinda loves doing things together like that. win or lose together, it feels like a very warm and fuzzy metaphor for the relationship they're trying to establish. ]

Next time. [She smiles.] One more ride and a snack for the walk home and then I try to make good on the promises we started with?

Sounds good to me. [ though he's not sure he's in the mental state to make good on those promises. maybe one. ] To the merry go round?

To the merry go round. [She gives him a soft kiss. It might not be what they initially imagined but she'd like the physical intimacy to go with all this emotional intimacy at least.]

[ he waves at the booth runner, and walks with her hand in hand. he'd definitely like the physical intimacy; he's going to miss sex on the planet when they move on. feeling what she's feeling makes it twice as amazing. ]
