I have an important request. I need someone who can make cheese. Do cheese makers have an old timey name like cobblers and haberdashers or are those only for clothes? Anyway, calling all of those.

Cheese doesn't seem to be a thing here from what I can tell, but we're just one ingredient away from some really great pizza. I have no idea what cheese requires other than cows or goats or something. I grew up so close to Wisconsin, but I feel like I learned so little.

I would also accept alternative cheese. I know there were vegan kinds made out of hopes and dreams or something I assume. I can pay you or share the finished pizza or do something in trade if I had skills. I could beat someone up for you maybe. [She's not going to do that. Probably.] We'll work it out.

Why? [Maybe she could use an inspirational speech.]

Because he's the most reliable person that I know. And look, I'm not delusional. I know me thinking one way or another won't change what happens, but I'd rather believe he'll come through this and be fine than think of the worst case scenario. I can't do anything about that, either, so it's not productive for me to worry. Cross that bridge if and when I come to it, you know?

Maybe because I've been in a similar situation, at home, and he helped Alex pull me out of it. And people here have done that, too. I talked to a girl named Wanda who was asleep for like a month, and came back with new memories. I don't see why him not coming back is more likely than that situation.

If he does leave, though, which would suck, I don't want you to think that would be the end of you and Winn. I'd work really hard to figure out how to get you home with me, if that's what you wanted.

I guess I'm just trying to expect the worst so that if it happens I'm already prepared and if it doesn't I can just be happy about it. [It's just hard either way. She has a point that she could just never be upset if it all works out though. But it's less of a logical choice and more just what happened when it comes down to it. Her heart called these shots.]

...You know the new memories thing worries me too, right? [Maybe he'd jump as far as Kara is and he'd remember that girl and feel whatever he feels but probably be fine. But what if it's further. What if he comes back engaged or something? And it's not lost on her that Wanda apparently has new memories. Winter does too. She wonders if it's the same sort of jump.]

[And the last part, working to find a way to National City if he disappears? She doesn't know how to feel about that. It's a sweet suggestion, but...she just doesn't know.]

Why? Do the memories worry you, I mean.

Of course they do. [She can't remember what all she told Kara or what Winn might have said back when she had her own memory download. She's quiet a few beats before going through it.]

It's how I lost Reid back in the prison. We were together. Happy. Starting to think about things like a future with him. [Marriage. Kids.] And then one day he disappeared. A week later [it felt like an eternity] he was back and he remembered the prison and me, but he remembered her too. [She's with Winn now but this still hurts. It wasn't even a year ago. It's not like he cheated on her, but he still said things like Maeve was his first love and where did that leave her? Forgotten in plain sight?]

He'd fallen in love back home. And she'd died in front of him and it was just a lot. Neither of us were in a good place and we didn't know how to make us work anymore and he stopped trying. [He broke up with her.]

That doesn't sound like a happy way for either of you to live your lives.

Do you really think Winn would act like that? Because, listen, I do remember a lot more than he does, and I can guarantee he doesn't act like that.

Well, I mean, he did kind of shut down when I rebuffed him but we both worked through it and now we're better friends than ever.

Reid was going through a lot. He isn't a bad guy. That would be an impossible situation for anyone. It wouldn't be anyone's fault but it could still stop working. We are our memories. They change people. Ask anyone who was in Kyriakos. ~~Or however that's spelled.~~

It just sounds like the issues that were between you weren't caused by the memories. Maybe they were exacerbated by them, and it would be nicer and easier just to blame one thing, but relationships are complicated.

You weren't there.

[Defensively. Kara's not even wrong and Kitty knows that. In the end it probably came down most to him needing space when he's upset and her needing connection and comfort, so they couldn't give each other what the other needed without putting themselves in a worse state.

But that sort of stressor on a relationship is unreal and extreme. Who has that kind of problem where they are suddenly in love with two people and one of them was just murdered tragically in front of you with no time to cope only to go back to your girlfriend who is already distraught because you've been gone for a week and as far as she knew it could be forever? They'd gotten through other problems together. Other hard, next to impossible things that the prison threw at them and skeletons in their closets and it was working. They were happy. She was happier than she'd been in her entire life and then it was just gone.

Winn was never supposed to be someone she loved. She just wanted some physical attention and they're both the worst possible people for not getting serious and more deeply involved. But it scares her. She can fight an army of overpowered genocidal mutants and find it thrilling, but being in love is legitimately terrifying sometimes.

But she doesn't really want to be arguing against her and Winn. She wants him back. She wants him to still know her and love her. She just knows these things never seem to work out for her, so it feels like a longshot.]

You're right, I wasn't. And you have a lot more experience with relationships than I do.

Just don't sell either of you guys short, okay?

[She nods and takes a deep breath.] I won't. I know how great he is.

[But Reid and Piotr were pretty great too until things happened. Hope is the thing that keeps her going, but also gets her hurt. It's a tricky relationship.

Are they where they're going to eat yet? Time to come in for a landing.]

[ yep! and idk kara has food and drinks. yum! ]

What else have you been up to?

Working. [It's a long list. It involves mostly working with minimal sleep, eating, and socializing.]

At the construction site, but anywhere else?

Bartending, gathering supplies for the Windrose, and on some of Winn's projects.

Staying very busy.

It's better that way. Keep my mind off it.

I can empathize with that.

A lot honestly, especially this last little while.

[Yeah, she should have realized that sooner. She would have been devastated if this happened to Kurt too. Sure, there is the added flavor that just about everyone from their world is dead now too, but Kara doesn't have that many people in her life who really know her back home since she hides who she is.]
