Sure. I'm harboring a veritable boogeyman down there. Who knows what wild shit will leap at you from the dark. Might find your own reflection.

You should probably clean this room out before it starts smelling. Seriously.

[ Though Isaac rolls his eyes. ] You don't need a picture of me dude if you miss me that much, I'm just next door.

Your face is enough to ward off the worst space vermin. If we've got to suffer it, we might as well make use of it.

[He takes a bite of the sandwich and doesn't quite make a face. He does look at it a little strangely, though.]

What's in this?

Some of that weird dino meat, and that sauce stuff I made. I think the other thing is as close as they get to cheese on this planet. It's not bad.

[ Well, it definitely beats the protein gels and powders. ]

It's edible, anyway.

[Yeah, it really isn't bad.]

Do you remember how you made the sauce.

Uh, sort of? I mean I know what I put in it, but I don't really remember how much. I just kept going until it tasted better. I'm glad it actually got better -- most times stuff I make tastes awful.

[ Isaac shrugs, letting himself slide down one wall to sit on the floor. How often does he end up on the floor? A lot. ]

Maybe you can figure out how to make it taste less weird next time.

[In any case, Davesprite does not get the floor sitting. He looks down at Isaac, perplexed.]

Dude, you can sit up here if you want. It's not like I'm contagious.

It's not that weird.

[ Hey now, he's proud of his weird little victory, okay? He made something that doesn't taste awful. He shrugs and finishes his sandwich. Yes, he's practically inhaled the thing. ] I'm already here, I don't want to move again. The floor's fine too.

[Davesprite shrugs.]

Ok. [The floor is cold, much in the same way sand is coarse and rough and irritating and gets everywhere. He doesn't see the appeal, but he isn't going to nag about it. It does make it kind of hard to talk to Isaac when he can't see him if he sits normally, but lbr, they've done this before.]

Anyway, at least this way I'll quit smelling like curry. I think that shit is permanently sealed into some of my clothes.

Yeah I think it's permanent. I guess I'm just used to it now, though. Pretty sure my room kind of smells still, too.

[ Isaac's woof nose is a little stunted by the constant curry smell, but it could be worse. He's never been good at tracking by scent, anyway. What a bad woof. ]

I can't believe you fell into that thing. I thought you were gonna die in there, dude. Death by curry. It'd be pretty lame to tell the whole fleet about it.

[If Isaac can't see Davesprite roll his eyes, he can probably tell that's what just happened from his voice.]

I thought I was gonna die when I woke up.

[Inhaling that shit felt like burning. Maybe part of why he punched Isaac out of reflex when he woke up?]

[ The sauce burned and the thought along makes his throat burn. He could hold his breath, at least while Davesprite went for the curry high dive. ]

You didn't have to punch me though. I actually bruised a little. Werewolves don't bruise like that easily, you know.

[If Davesprite knew Isaac swallowed any of that shit while he was still conscious, he'd laugh his ass off. He'd laugh if he knew Isaac stuck his head in it at all. Why would you do that to yourself, bro.]

[ Or so he thinks. He's been in a hospital with injuries that should have healed before, so clearly there are anomalies (SHOCKING) in his little world. ]

Uh, no. Pretty sure it wasn't broken. I was joking, dude.

[ Sort of. It did hurt pretty bad, and did a weird clicking thing, but that could have been Isaac hyper-aware of having been punched by his bff. It's tragic, okay. ]

There is zero difference between when you're being serious and when you're joking. I think my bro had more cues to tell if he was being a dick or not, but maybe that's because he was always a dick.

[Davesprite just gives Isaac a wary (if also slightly guilty) look. He gets the sense he fucked up, stepped maybe a little too far over the line, but he also doesn't feel like that's entirely his fault. So it's a combination of uncertainty and him feeling like he was unfairly cornered that keeps his mouth shut for a change.

How awkward is the silence that ensues. Pretty awkward, right?]

[ Isaac isn't sure what he's apologizing for necessarily, but it feels like it's the right thing to do. He pushes up from his place on the floor, only to take a few steps and plops himself onto Davesprite's bed. ]

My jaw's fine. You're strong, though. Remind me never to fight you or become your enemy or something.

[He winces a little when Isaac apologizes to him.]

Nah, I probably... I shouldn't have said that.

[He absently rubs his own jaw.]
