[ some of you may have noticed that winn has been uncharacteristically quiet for the past...16 days. he's not really sure how to address the elephant in the room - he knows these two weeks and change have been hard on the people he loves but for him it's like no time has passed and the dissonance is hard to bridge.

it's a good thing he has a not at all unhealthy coping mechanism set in place. ]

You know, if we're entertainment on a reality show, the least they can do is give us like a recap - you know your basic [ in a tv announcer impression ] here's what you missed on the Fleet - or - last week, on the young and the Drifting - [ he rubs the back of his head before shaking it ] Well, maybe talking about the 'least they can do' isn't such a great plan...first order of business - what'd I miss? Second order of business - if you or anyone you know has ever fallen into an unexplained sleep here or at any other kidnappy world - I'd appreciate it if you'd answer a couple questions, they're a text attachment at the bottom. Sorry if it's been done before, I'll gladly take a link to any previous research as well as fresh data. Third order of business -- hi. [ he gives the camera a little wave and a nervous chuckle ] Um. Yeah, I'm, I'm fine, I should've opened with that but if you know me the order isn't really gonna surprise you that much and if you don't you're probably really confused right now and looking for the off button - it's to your right, right on top, there you go.

I don't mind, but why do you need supervision?

I'm surrounded by very wonderful loving people I gave a bad scare to.

[ aka his girlfriend is worried about him and he's not gonna make it worse by taking off before he's 100% back to normal. since his body is feeling pretty weak, he also tends to agree that he shouldn't be on the shuttle alone just yet, but that wouldn't have stopped him as much as the whole not making his girlfriend worry more than she has to thing. ]

I'm pretty sure I count as adult supervision, but maybe not in this case. If you're stuck over there, then, do you want me to bring drinks?

there's gotta be some reason why saying no is rude, right? so that'd be great :) thanks

[ he shouldn't. he really shouldn't. but boy does he want to. and hey he's being good with staying at home and everything! ]

If you haven't noticed, I'm pretty rude myself, so you don't have to worry about that. I'll be over there soon, then. Where should I meet you? I don't think I've been to the Tourist before.

[True to her word, it doesn't take long- Through the magic of inventory space, she already has drinks on her she hasn't opened yet.

Of course, this means she looks totally empty-handed when she shows up, but that's kind of normal for her.]

Hey.

[ true to his word, he's there waiting for her - looking a little tired, but otherwise alright. ]

Hi -- it's - nice to finally meet you in person. [ he offers her a smile and a little wave ] how was the ride? [ he still hates the shuttles with a fiery passion. ]

[She waves back with a small grin. And it probably becomes more obvious in person just how tiny she actually is.]

This is the first time, isn't it? It's nice to meet you, then, I suppose.

[She glances back at the shuttle.]

Honestly, I try not to think about it much when I'm flying one. I'm pretty sure I never actually got a driver's license at home, much less spaceship training.

[ he enjoys not being towered over for a change. ]

I'm good with the cars, it's the flying I'd rather do without.

[ he nods. ]

You want the grand tour of the Tourist - or just go sit and talk?

I'm okay without the tour, I think.

[Tour involves the risk of running into other people, and talking to new people is kind of scary.]

Besides, the sooner we get to the sit and talk part, the sooner we get those drinks you wanted.

[She lifts a hand, and a bottle appears out of thin air in it, before vanishing again when she lowers her hand.]

-- okay that was awesome.

[ he starts leading her through the ship to kara's office - the couch is pretty comfortable and it's much neater than his room, that's currently kind of screaming mad scientist. ]

What else can you do?

Wha- Oh, my inventory? It's nothing special, everyone in my world does that.

[She holds up a hand again, and starts cycling through items, which appear in her hand and then vanish again. A towel, a plate of still-hot food, another bottle, her communicator, what looks to be a slightly too big smartphone, a spare cape, etc.]

I mean, I am a mage, but that part isn't magic.

[ his eyes grow wider and he looks absolutely delighted - like a kid at christmas ]

Then what is it, how are you doing that?

I... just am? It's like knowing how to walk or breathe.

But we can analyze how we walk or breathe, study the muscles, understand the process that takes place when our brains send signals to our lungs or our legs and -- where do all these things go?

Into my inventory. It's just something normal to my world- It seems like my world is pretty... unique, compared to most people's.

If I did ever learn more about it, the amnesia means that knowledge is gone now.

Where is your inventory, though? Hey - the cool thing about knowledge is it can always be relearned.

[ he opens the door to the office, and lets her in ]

Make yourself comfortable.

[ he clears his unfinished sewing projects off the couch. ]

Didn't take you for the sewing type.

[She sounds amused as she finds a seat, and unloads several bottles from her inventory onto the table- There's some from just about every planet they've visited since she arrived. Except for the poison moon, that's just asking for trouble. And, of course, a couple from the bars on the Iskaulit.]

Where is it... Inside me? Pocket subspace? I don't really know. I'd show you more about it, but my menu's been dead for months now.

I'm a man of many talents.

[ though for the longest time it felt like sewing was the only one he got to use. ]

You got storage space inside you? That's -- incredible. Have you ever had a scan? How -- can that be --

[ he sits next to her, mind racing. ]

Not literally inside of me. It's... really hard to explain. And the ways I could explain it, I know are also unique to my world. So that wouldn't help at all.

Hey if we go back far enough, it's bound to make sense eventually -

I guess... If you don't have an inventory, you probably don't really know about stats or anything, right?

I'm guessing you don't mean 'statistics', do you?

Kind of? Things like your strength, speed... Assigning a numerical value to your abilities.

[She's pretty much bracing herself for what everyone always says when that gets brought up.]
