I have no doubt about that, it seems everyone is aware of my record here. [He looked more amused by it more than anything.

Communications? Do you work on the network for the ship or the entire fleet?

[ He hums. ] News travels fast in enclosed spaces.

I suppose the answer to that is both, since I monitor incoming and outgoing transmissions. But my responsibility is for the ship.

So you see to the maintenance and security of the network then. Interesting.

[He was glad that he and Phasma had agreed not to communicate over the network otherwise having someone potentially looking into his private messages could be an issue.]

Has it ever malfunctioned or have there been with the security of the network?

Not that I know of, but that doesn't remove the possibility of sabotage. You forget, everything we have here is subject to the Atroma's whims and mercies. They may change their mind any time.

Of course, I assumed as much. I've been inspecting the ship and it seems that they don't give us a great deal to work with or the ability to improve anything.

[It just meant that it would take time to work around things. He always liked a challenge.]

How long have you been here?

[ He ticks off the months mentally. ]

Four months, I believe.

[Hux was restless after only a little more than a month, he wondered how he could deal with four months of relative peace and quiet.]

With everything controlled by the Atroma and little left to us, how do you keep yourself occupied?

[Because aside from meddling with Jedi, Hux found himself at a loss of how to occupy his time.]

You find ways. I have classes and training sessions for a few people on the Fleet as well as my research. You have to find a way to cope otherwise you lose balance very quickly.

Classes on what subject?

Hmm that's true, having such much free time is unsettling to say the least. I'm not used to the quiet. [He's been on edge, still expecting something to blow up or go wrong at any moment, it's an habit which will be difficult if not impossible to break.]

Using their powers. It's my specialty. I train those who don't know how to deal or understand their gifts.

[ He wonders if he should mention his telepathy and dismisses - Hux would find out on his own. It's no secret. ]

Most of these places have a calm before the storm.

Powers? [Hux frowned thoughtfully but he wasn't surprised. Not anymore.] I wasn't aware there was such a pressing need.

That's exactly why I don't like the quiet.

There always is. Not everyone is well-prepared for this place and everyone could use the extra training.

What do you like then?

Being productive and working towards something more than some audience.

[He had never been idle before. Even as a child he worked towards restoring the Empire every single day then serving the First Order.]

Though one benefit has been I've been able to work on projects I never had the time to before, I suppose.

No personal goals then?

Personal goals such as what? My goals have always been the as the Order's.

But there's no Order here, correct? What's so odd about having goals that only concern yourself?

My personal ambitions have always been related to the Order as well.

[There had been times when he wondered what it would be like if he hadn't been taken from Arkanis but he knew he never would have been content staying in the kitchen.]

I honestly never thought about any goals separate from it, actually.

Then perhaps now is the time to try and cultivate that. Why miss out on opportunities you've never tried before?

What opportunities are those? Learn a new language? Brush up on my Huttese?

[There was a definite tone of disbelief in his tone but at the same time, he never really had the time for hobbies which didn't pertain to help designing superweapons or battle plans.]

[ He rolls his eyes lightly. ]

Why not learn about other cultures and civilizations? Or battle techniques you've never considered before?

Even reading up on other histories and sciences can prove beneficial. And the Fleet is a great repository to knowledge you've never accessed before.

There are records from other galaxies here? [He raised his eyebrows, curious. This was the first he had heard about this. Records from other worlds, perhaps even some from his galaxy, would be invaluable.

And without Kylo Ren present, he may have time to actually sit and read once more, something he hasn't done in literally five years.]

Of course. And the people themselves are halls of knowledge.

How are these records accessed?

[There is no hiding the light in his eyes, the way he tapped two fingers on the surface of his datapad.]

[ Charles raises his eyebrow, skeptical. ]

They don't have libraries in your galaxy? Shame. We have one in the Fleet.

Of course- most governing bodies and organizations kept libraries and archives.

Accessing them is another matter entirely, however.
