It sounds like you do. Isn't that lucky?

[ He blinks. ]

Why lucky?

You're very powerful. Having a lot of power is always helpful, even if you don't use it often.

Maybe. But I never wanted to be powerful.

Do you want to be a normal human, then?

[ Charles shakes his head, bemused. ]

Being a mutant is a part of my identity. That being said, I wouldn't mind being a less powerful mutant.

Why?

[She can think of several very good answers to that question.]

Power isn't worth the loneliness.

[Maybe. She's learned recently it might be possible to have power and not be lonely, though it did take her hundreds of years to find that.]

You know, being honest to the point of vulnerability isn't all good.

[ His lips twitch. ]

Do you really think I'm vulnerable?

I think openly admitting that you're lonely does make you vulnerable, yes.

[Is that a button she's pushing? Could be, she still looks intrigued and fairly relaxed.]

But that's just one fox's opinion.

I'm not as lonely as I look.

There are. But more than that, there are people willing to understand and accept me.

I suppose it helps that you don't seem like a terrible person.

[She can't say she's the same.]

I'm a fox. We aren't known for being innocent and cuddly.

[ That seems debatable. ]

I think people might disagree. But that's simply what you are.

[Sascha would at least disagree with her.]

Humans never like it when your nature happens to not be exactly what they want. I suppose that's their nature. [She chuckles mildly.]

Even within our own natures, we still have the ability to choose and decide for ourselves.

You do. I don't have that same flexibility.

[The only way for her to really change is to rewrite her soul, something humans don't have to worry about. But that's more than a little personal, so she goes with straight up lying to get her point across instead because that is clearly the way to go here.]

Animals run off of instinct, after all.
